Video playback does not resume when main menu "Play" button is pressed

Just recently started using videos - with Samsung Vibrant 16GB of internal memory, there is plenty to go around...

I had one ongoing audio feed in "pause", and then switched to video feed. I paused video somewhere in the middle. Later, returning to the app, I pressed "Play" on main menu, and the audio feed resumed - not the latest playback feed which was the video feed...

Thanks,
Saar

Video play

I know this is an issue, and I'm not really sure how I'm going to deal with it yet. The media buttons at the bottom are pretty much geared towards audio only. I do see the scenario you describe though where the last thing you did was play video. Maybe it make sense if you press on the play button, to do a check to see if you had played video most recently and then prompt if you want to play the video or audio next. I'm not sure if I like this idea yet though, I need to think about it some more.

If you come up with any ideas, let me know.

Thanks for posting.

Media buttons

I think the media buttons don't really mean the same thing at startup as they do during playback. For example, it seems pretty meaningless to jump forward or back at startup. Probably the only meaningful button is the play button. Maybe at startup you show a single wide "resume playback" button - which would resume audio or video, as last played. Once that is pressed, an audio playback would bring up the regular buttons. Video playback when returned to the main screen would keep showing the big wide resume button.

What do you think?

Also a question - when pressing the home button, video playback is automatically pauses. Is that a designed feature or a residual effect of the video player you are using? I find I may want to chekc an email or anything else, but keep the audio of the video playback running and be able to go back to the video.
I am not sure if that is possible...

Background video

That's an interesting idea. I'm a little hesitant to have the buttons change their appearance or function, but I do agree that not all the buttons can be used at certain times.

The video pauses when you leave the screen in order to be consistent with the other video apps I'm seen. I do have an issue for playing video as audio which may achieve some of what you are looking for. I moved that issue to soon.

Here's an issue to handle resuming the video...
