I'd like to see integration for either supporting gpodder specifically, or at least some similar service (cloud-based podcast sync/feed backup).

I like using the gpodder program with gpodder.net (gpodder works on windows and linux, as well as Nokia tablets). If there's another cloud-based option that has clients on even more OSes, I'd be glad to change that. But, it's frustrating that I can't keep my phone podcasts in sync with my laptop/desktop podcasts. I would like something that would let me keep my computers and phones in sync.

For a better explanation of features, check out gpodder.net. You don't have to use their client, just a client that supports the site.

That's interesting, I'll take a look. I created an issue for this - http://mantis.snoggdoggler.com/view.php?id=550

Hi,

I'm one of the developers of gpodder.net and would like to express that we appreciate integration of other application with our webservice! Actually I wanted to provide the following hints on the corresponding Mantis entry but could not find a way to register.

We provide an open API which is documented at

http://wiki.gpodder.org/wiki/Web_Services/API_2

as well as a reference implementation in Python that is also used by gPodder

http://repo.or.cz/w/mygpoclient.git
http://dev.gpodder.org/mygpoclient-apidocs/

If you consider implementing an integration of gpodder.net and need any help, don't hesitate to contact me at stefan@gpodder.net or file bugs at

https://bugs.gpodder.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=gpodder.net

Regards,

Stefan

Great info Stephan. Putting it here works just fine, the mantis issue has a pointer to this post.

Once I start work in this, I'll surely be in contact.

Thanks for posting.

Any news on implementing this?

Seems you also logged a similar concept for potential inclusion here, http://mantis.snoggdoggler.com/view.php?id=346 but it too hasn't happened :-( Using Gpodder at least means you wouldn't have to maintain the service yourself.

Having my podcast subscriptions automatically sync'd across all my devices would be great - for now just my N900 and Windows PCs are able to do this.

Google greader

What I'll probably end up doing is doing a two-way synch with google reader. The next release will have a one way import of greader feeds into DC...the other direction will come in the future.

Update?

I've read in a few threads from last year saying that two-way sync with Google Reader is planned for a future release. Any estimates on when it's coming? I use DoggCatcher on both my phone and my tablet for all my video & audio podcasts as well as for my RSS subscriptions. It's become tedious having to manually mark items as read on each device after having viewed/listened to an item on the other device.

Thanks!

Greader synch

I do have plans to do it, but it's not on the near term schedule. Here's the general roadmap.

http://mantis.snoggdoggler.com/roadmap_page.php

I get a lot more requests for things related to audio and video, and this controls where the development effort goes.

Now I'll back track a little since tablets have become available. I think that's a much more compelling way to consume news on android.
