Toggle WiFi on During Update

It would be ideal if the player had an option to toggle the WiFi on during an update. This way if you were near a pre-configured hotspot or at home it would download the updates over the WiFi network vs the cell network. This also allows you to download updates on WiFi without having WiFi on all the time so it saves battery life. Given that some folks are loosing their unlimited data plans I think this feature would be a must have.

Thanks,
HC

Wi-Fi Toggle

Th ability to auto toggle your wi-fi is already available in Beyond Pod. I have both applications but am switching back to DoggCatcher as it has improved vastly over the past few months when I first gave it a try. The only feature I will miss s the auto wi-fi toggle. It can be done. Let's get on it.

Toggle wifi

Yep, good idea. I added an issue for this and moved it to the soon group.

I just bought the application

I just bought the application and I like it very much. But I really miss the feature mentioned above. A long time has passed, since you moved it to the soon group. Are there any news? It would be great!

Wifi

Yep, there's a lot of stuff in the soon group. Scheduling mostly depends on user depends on user demand and difficulty level. There are a couple of other significant features that will probably happen first like categories and reader integration. But the wifi doesn't seem to be too difficult, shouldn't be too much longer.

Auto Wi-Fi

While I have no strong objection to new features I don't have to use, I'm generally not a fan of automatic features that can have unintended consequences.

A major problem with an Auto Wi-Fi feature is that many Wi-Fi hotspots require browser login/confirmation, without which the connection won't work. I wouldn't want update to fail because of that, so I'd like fallback to cellular data, at least as an option. (I do have unlimited cellular data.)

My $0.02,
John

Toggle switches in pull-down notification bar

The Android Market has a free widget app called Widgetsoid2.x (there's a version for Android 1.6, too)that allows you to add toggle switches to your pull-down notification bar, like the Samsung Galaxy Tab has. It's very convenient having the options there in the pull-down notification bar, so I no longer have to close down an app, go back to the home screen to turn on/off Wi-fi, bluetooth, volume, screen brightness, etc., then go back into the app.

This would resolve this feature request, and it would also benefit you when you use apps other than DoggCatcher.

Notification EasySettings

Widgetsoid is remarkably capable, but puts a big 2+ MB hit on memory.
Notification EasySettings gets the basic jobs done for a measly 84 KB.
