I subscribe to Jimmy Pardo's "Never Not Funny" podcast (http://pardcast.com). To access a feed for each season, you pay a subscription, and you have to authenticate as a user in order to download the feed. The desktop podcast clients I've used (iTunes, Juice, Songbird) all support authentication, but I can't find a way to do this with DoggCatcher. I primarily listen to podcasts on my phone, so I'm back to manually moving podcasts from this feed from PC to phone. This would be a huge feature for me.
For each feed you can configure a username and pw to use. If they are using standard http authentication then you should be fine.
I finally got around to trying this out, and it worked just fine. I think I missed the fields in the form because the OK/Cancel buttons stay above the keyboard and cover other things on the page. I don't know what everyone else finds best, but I think I would have been better served by buttons that stay at the bottom of the form.
That would work best when you need to change the auth options but the most common options are at the top of the screen. So changing those would require scrolling all the way to the bottom. It used to be that way but was changed to avoid scrolling to the bottom each time.
Glad you got the auth working.
Can you walk me through how you set up the premium feed. I'm trying to add the premium feed for Season 8 and can't get it to work.
Thanks!
In the feed options, way down at the bottom, enter your username and password.
