I'm experimenting with this, I will report back when I learn more but this is what I've found so far.
I remember when DC used to successfully seek in streamed media, but this was quite a while ago.
I found a post about seeking in a stream breaking in android 1.6 and still not fixed in 2.1
DC seems to be misbehaving in that it lets you seek forward past what's buffered and that is what's causing the stream to start from the beginning.
Hmm. It was always behaving like that on my G1 and Desire. Didn't know it wasn't supposed to :)

I am experiencing this as well. Pausing or fast forwarding a stream causes a hang up and then for the podcast to start from the beginning.
