Recently added the "Welcome to Night Vale" podcast through the built-in search.
Naturally, it sets all but the two newest episodes as done. Fixed that by marking all new.
I have "download oldest episodes first" as my default and the feed settings ft that. Even after removing the media files and refreshing the feed, the two newest episodes are downloaded again.
Even tried the 'make filenames unique' setting, but no difference.
Thoughts?
Episodes #206-The Great Librarian of the Western Sands & #205-The Moon Is Gone shouldn't have downloaded again after deleting them
To correct the problem (Press the Episode Menu button & selecting "Delete audio/video file" on each feed item 206 & 205 - then from Feed menu button - Select "Flag all Done" refresh the feed, wait a minute or so for the app to refresh all 180 episodes - Press the Feed Menu button again Select "Flag all New " refresh the feed - Episodes #77- A Stranger & 78-Cooking Stuff: Thanksgiving Special will be downloaded first
I'll give that a shot.
No go. Still started at the latest episodes.
Delete the "Welcome to Night Vale" podcast and then resubscribe to the feed again using the search feature.
This time once you've subscribed to the feed again:
1) Cancel episode downloads - Press the "Download Queue" button (Down arrow with horizontal bar at the bottom) on the Main screen & then press "X".
2) Open the "Welcome to Night Vale" screen.
3) Press the Episode Menu button & select "Delete audio/video file" on each feed item 206 & 205 (for all or partial downloaded episodes).
4) Then press the feed menu button - Select "Flag all Done" refresh the feed, wait a minute or so.
5) Then from the "Welcome to Night Vale" screen: Press feed settings icon (3rd Icon from the Right top of the screen)
5) Scroll down to "Number of Episodes" uncheck "Global" and enter "500" in the field
6) Next scroll down to "Download Order" below "Advanced" Press the triangle icon: A dialog box will open, Select "Oldest First"
7) Scroll down to "Full Fetch" Verify if the setting is checked (If not enable the feature) Press "OK"
8) Wait a minute or so for the app to refresh all 180 episodes - Press the "Feed Menu" button again Select "Flag all New " refresh the feed
9) Depending on your "Auto Downloads" setting the oldest episode will download first, in my case the setting is set to "3" and Episodes #77- A Stranger & 78-Cooking Stuff: Thanksgiving Special & 79 - Lost in the Mail downloaded first (Additional previously published episodes may have to be manually downloaded)
I repeated this solution three times to try and reproduce the problem, no issues
I'll give it a try this AM
I'll give it a try this AM
So, even after several repeat attempts, it does the same behavior.
On top of that, if I mark enduring as done, and THEN mark only a handful as new, they never get downloaded either.
You say your episode lost stats at 77, but I get a list that goes all the way back to 001, plus an announcement.
The feed URL I show is

"Several repeat attempts "
Remnants from the initial downloads of 206 & 205 are still there for some reason and will continue to redownload even when flagged done, repeat step 3
Press the Episode Menu button & select "Delete audio/video file" on each feed item 206 & 205 (for all or partial downloaded episodes).
Worst case scenario - Delete the remnant episodes from the storage location on your device or easier, delete the feed and resubscribe.
"If I mark enduring as done, and THEN mark only "
As I said in step 9 "Previously published episodes may have to be manually downloaded" Instead of flagging/marking previously published episodes new, just press on the episodes you want to listen to and they will be downloaded.
"You say your episode lost stats at 77 "
That's because I initially changed the "Number of Episodes" setting to 180, setting it to 500 will list all available episodes. from "New to Night Vale? Start here! to currently published episode "207 - LOST CAT" I was concentrating on the initial problem Re: Post Downloading newest episodes despite 'oldest first' option http://www.doggcatcher.com/node/7418 apologies for any misconception
