Time/progress bar wrong on car head unit

I usually play my podcasts over bluetooth in my car (2015 Toyota Sienna XLE, no navigation; phone is a Pixel 2). The time and progress bar indicators are....unreliable at best. Sometimes I have no indicator at all, sometimes it shows, but the time elapsed and remaining are wrong, and sometimes it just resets the time remaining to 0. This morning, while listening to a 50+ minute podcast for 15 minutes (at double speed), the time shown never went past 3 minutes; it kept resetting. However, the podcast plays normally.

Is this a known issue? Something I can fix in settings? A bug I should report?

That post is from 2015, talking about resolution in a release in 2016. Is there any update to it?

The issue was updated &

The issue was updated & fixed in version 1.2.4139 of the app http://mantis.doggcatcher.com/view.php?id=2071

Apologies I meant to reference this post "Bluetooth Metadata" http://www.doggcatcher.com/comment/16130#comment-16130
Devices require the app's "Lock screen button" to be enabled (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>Headset/Lockscreen)

If the setting is enabled - then delete the app's pairings with your vehicle's BT head unit and pair it again

I feel like we're going the wrong way here

The post you linked to is now the parent of the first one. It's still from 2015. The metadata shows (sometimes), but it's often WRONG. It seems like there's still some bug in that code that sends the current time values to the head unit. If there's something I can turn on for logging to get more info, I'd be happy to do so.

This seems to have gotten worse since I installed 1) The latest version of Doggcatcher (I was on the premium Lite version before) and 2) the latest Android updates (I'm running a Pixel2 at Android 10).
