Display blank - dark gray - when DC starts

DoggCatcher Version: 1.2.4154
Device: Samsung Galaxy S8 Model SM-G950U
Android Version: 9
Kernel Version: 4.4.153
Android Build: PPR1 180610.011.G950USQS6DSH2
Android Security Patch level: August 1, 2019
Carrier: Verizon

SUMMARY: DC shows gray screen on start, no feeds or text shown

1. Start DC
2. Screen will show dark gray
3. Tap bottom center button to show all apps
4. Close all apps with option at bottom of display
5. Start DC
6. Display will show normal DC list of all feeds

I listen to at least one podcast each day.
In the morning when I open DC to refresh feeds the display will show a dark gray screen with no text or images.
Closing all apps and then starting DC resolves and feeds will show.
This happens about 80% of time first thing in morning. Phone has been on all night but idle.
Once restarted and working it will continue to work however later in the day it is possible to see this behavior again.

WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN: DC should start with feeds displayed.

SEVERITY: Low but annoying

Probably an issue with the

Probably an issue with the install of the app.

Backup the app (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>Backup/Restore/Export) then uninstall/reinstall the app.

Once the app is installed again restore

Follow up - appears resolved by removing old podcasts

I was going to backup, uninstall, then reinstall.
Prior to performing the backup step I decided to delete old podcast that I had heard but not deleted as well as some not heard. There were A LOT. I had well more than a year of Science Friday (2 hours per week) and also Car Talk at an hour a week. Quite a few others.
I deleted all the old stuff and for a week or so now no problems at all with the app not starting as it should. Prior to this there was never a day that it would fail to start and I would have to close all apps and then launch again. I can't say for sure but seems like enough time now to seem that this was the problem.
