Putting Old Podcasts Out To Pasture

Hello Doggcatcher, hoping I could get some help with my newly purchased Doggcatcher app!

So, here's the issue:

Every time I download an older episode of a Podcast (I.e. anything but the most recent available) the file disappears! Like MAGIC!

I recently found out about the meditation-themed "10% Happier" podcast and was hoping to go back and give the first few episodes a listen. I can find them within the app, although admittedly getting the older episodes in the first place is *fairly* convoluted. And the episodes have no issue downloading completely. When I open the "10% Happier" drop-down tag, the episodes will show and I can play them without issue. I can even restart my phone and the episodes will still be there waiting for me.

But when the Doggcatcher App UPDATES my feed the old episodes are immediately deleted, even if I'm only halfway through them. Even if I never started them. They're deleted and gone from my phone. *poof*

I really don't understand why this is happening. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the total podcast amount, as the older podcasts are deleted even when I only have 2 new ones under that specific title (I have my feed limit set to 5.)

But when the app updates my feed it immediately deletes the older episodes like I never downloaded them in the first place.

Shouldn't we show a little respect for the older podcast episodes and all the wisdom they have to share? What have they done to deserve this disrespect?

Thank you for any help you can give,

Jake

(P.S. App used on Galaxy S10, Android.)

Pin Expired & Diagnostics Features

Try the app's Pin Expired feature.....press the context button (Three Vertical Dots Right of the Feed) on the particular podcast on the “Feeds Screen”, select feed options, scroll down to & enable “Pin Expired” then press OK. With this option you will have to manually delete completed episodes by pressing the context menu button on the particular episode & select “Delete Media”

You can also verify if any feed has the issue with duplicate file names or other problem, use DC’s “Feed Diagnostics” option press the context button (Three Vertical Dots Right of the Feed & select Diagnostics ) diagnostics offers to repair the various types of problems we've found with feeds in the past.

Tried it, but nope

Unfortunately, this did not solve the issue for me.

Followed your instructions to a "T" and still the podcasts will not stay downloaded for me.

I have to admit, the fact that I can't directly contact Support for this issue, and know that my concerns are being heard, for a product that I purchased is a little galling.

When an episode is skipped or

When an episode is skipped or flagged done on completion and removed from the current active playlist...the episode is not deleted until the next scheduled feed update. Feed subscriptions with the “Pin Expired” feature are also not deleted, they're just removed from the current active playlist when episodes are skipped or flagged done on completion.

You can add episodes back to the active playlist by flagging all new or individual episodes from the "10% Happier" podcast on the "Feeds" tab

Flagging all new
Press the context button (Three Vertical Dots Right of the Feed & select "Flag all New)

Flagging individual episodes new
Press the 10% Happier icon on the feeds tab
Press the context button (Three Vertical Dots Right of the episode title & select "Flag as new)

If episodes from other feeds are being deleted before the scheduled feed update and “Pin Expired” isn't enabled on those feed subscriptions, then the “Update Feeds on Start” feature is enabled, you can disable it from the app's settings (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>Feed Updates>Update Feeds on Start)

It's also possible the "Hide episodes that are done" filter feature is enabled - You can disable or enable "Hide episodes that are done" filter by opening any feed & pressing reversible V' icon (Left of the DC Episode Menu) or on the feeds screen (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>User Interface) enable or disable "Hide episodes that are done" press the check ✓icon
