See "Audio playback problems" post under "Playback Issues" http://www.doggcatcher.com/AudioPlaybackProblems and switch to Google’s Android experimental media player for 6.0+/7.0+/8.0 and up devices.
Thanks for the quick feedback.
However, I don't think this will help. I am only on Android 5.1.1 so the experimental media player is not relevant. And this problem is not mentioned in the link. DoggCatcher isn't crashing as far as I can tell, just pausing.
Please check this FAQ post "Audio only plays about 1 second every 10 seconds or so" http://www.doggcatcher.com/node/6605
Also Android OS Lollipop 5.0.0/5.0.1/5.0/5.1.X has a memory leak bug issue, the app will respond slowly or is killed by Android/Freeze during update or downloads
Reboot your device when this issue happens again or on a regular basis once or twice a week power off your device for a minute or two then restart it, & follow the above FAQ post suggestion
