Variable Speed Above 3.0

First, i would like to thank you for making such a great app. I have enjoyed it for many years now.

I currently listen to a wide variety of podcasts, all at 3.0. Over time I've grown accustomed to this speed, and I'm wondering if it is possible to enable variable speeds above 3.0? (there's just not enough time in the day!).

I understand this is probably not a very popular feature request, but if it does not involve extensive work on your part I would be happy to fund it.

thank you

Custom variable speed

You can enable a custom variable speed (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>Audio Player) Press "Custom variable speed" and enter a value, then press OK.

Also for 6.0+/7.0+/8.0+ devices switch to Google’s Android experimental media player (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>Advanced) Enable “Experimental Marshmallow media player”

Please be advised playback speeds above 3.0 may not work well on either player

Thank you for your reply.

Thank you for your reply.

However, when I go to select custom variable speed (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>Audio Player), and try a setting greater than 3.0, I get the message:
"Illegal Value
Custom values must be at least 0.5 and not more than 3.0, however values above 2.0 are not officially supported. You can removes this custom speed by setting it to 0."

I tried enabling the android experimental player, and changing the variable speed. I got the same message as above. That is, i could not increase the variable speed above 3.0.

I tried the values 3.1, 3.5 and 4.0, all with the same result, that is the program would not allow me to choose one of those values.

Thank you

3.0 Support

The app has always used the built in Android media player for media playback and for variable speed playback support we used "Presto" and then “Stable Speed Library” when presto support was discontinued. Google’s Android experimental media player for 6.0+/7.0+/8.0+ devices now supports its own built in variable speed....3.0 value seems to be the highest supported playback speed. A workaround would be to install VLC for Android https://goo.gl/EHqZZX from the Playstore or media player of your choice and and once installed choose "Play in external player" from DC's episode screen of the particular feed> press the context menu>select VLC.

VLC supports playback speeds up to 4.0 value, once you've chosen the "Play in external player" DC's features are not supported

Thank you for your reply, I

Thank you for your reply, I got this working with vlc.

I will play around with this, hopefully google will add support for faster playback in their player as well.
