DoggCatcher downloading multiple copies of the same files and eating GIGABYTES of space for NO REASON!!!

This is my reference podcast:

http://alm.myds.me/rss/rome.xml.php

Even if i disable auto downloads and just manually download a couple of these episodes, eventually there are hundreds of megabytes (and eventually many gigs) of wasted downloads for no reason. I always have to set this to "make filenames unique" because of the way the URLs are formatted.

Why is this happening. I can't keep one of my favorite feeds loaded because of this bullcrap nonsense.

The feed has an issue with duplicate file names, see posted FAQ article about this issue and how to resolve the problem

Why does my feed/podcast subscription episodes being deleted and re-downloaded - http://www.doggcatcher.com/node/6613

That doesn't explain why it's

That doesn't explain why it's automatically downloading episodes when I set it to manually download?

Also, and I should have mentioned this before, I did that LONG before I posted to support and made the filenames unique.

Why does DC do this? It's not the feed doing this. The feed is just pointers.

And why did you recommend

And why did you recommend making filenames unique when i clearly said in the OP:

"I always have to set this to "make filenames unique" because of the way the URLs are formatted."

DC set to Manual Updates

It's possible the majority of your feed subscriptions are all experiencing the same issue (duplicate file names) or other type of problem. DC uses RSS URL’s provided by the publisher & relies on the publisher's servers for metadata and media content, other podcast managers may cache media from podcasts on their own servers and corrects the various problems & idiosyncrasies of each feed....that's currently not possible with the DC app. DC uses the diagnostics feature within the app to diagnose and try to correct these types of problems.

Press the context menu of each feed subscription on the "Feeds' tab and press the diagnostics feature

DC set to Manual Updates
Verify if "Start on boot" and "Update feeds on start" is disabled, also "Feed update interval" is set to "Never" (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>Feed Updates)
Verify "Auto downloads" is set to 0 and the "Auto Delete Policy" is to "None" (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>Feed Updates)
If a feed somehow automatically updates after changing these settings...press the context menu of the feed, press "Feed Options" and check the global settings haven't been overridden.
