Persistent notification continually waking Ambient Display

As in the title, I'm finding that Doggcatcher is keeping the screen on my device awake. Ambient display will fade out and then immediately wake again. I can't seem to find a setting to stop this. I've tried a couple of other podcast apps and it only seems to be Doggcatcher that does this.

I'm using a OnePlus 3t with the OOS 4.0.3.

Screen on

That should only happen when media files are downloading, if the setting is disabled..those files might fail to download. "Screen on when downloading" setting.
Try changing the "Screen on when playing" setting to "Never" or "Off but awake" (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>User Interface) also change the "Feed update interval" to once or twice a day (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>Feed Updates) to limit the times when the app updates and downloads media files .

Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the reply.

These were already set and changing to another setting didn't fix it.
It doesn't wholly switch the screen on, it just triggers Ambient Display repeatedly which is why I think it's related to the notification.

Blocking DC's notifications

Blocking DC's notifications in android settings works as a workaround.
