Android Auto Play/Pause Issue

I'm not able to reproduce the problem
>Try exiting & restarting the app (DC Navigation Menu>More>Exit)

The problem could also be a Bluetooth issue:

>Delete the BT pairing from your device again
>Then power off your device - Wait a minute or two then restart it
> Re-pair again

I tried your suggestion, but

I tried your suggestion, but it still doesn't work. The play/pause icon works fine with Amazon Music.

Try installing Android Auto

Try installing Android Auto from the playstore https://goo.gl/kwQfGT on your device and see if the problem can be reproduced, if it does....
see the "Audio playback problems" post under "Playback Issues" (DC Forum) http://www.doggcatcher.com/AudioPlaybackProblems and switch to Google’s Android experimental media player for 6.0+/7.0+ devices.
If that solution fails...try uninstalling and then reinstalling the app

1. First backup DC (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>Backup/Restore/Export) press “Backup”

2. Uninstall the app from the device settings (Settings>Apps>scroll down to & press on DoggCatcher>Press “Uninstall”

3. Re-install the app from the my app section of the Play Store URL https://play.google.com/apps or though the Play Store app on your device (Open the app>Press the Hamburger Icon “Top Left of the screen”>Press My Apps>Press “ALL”>scroll down & locate the app>Press & install

4. Open DC & run “Restore” (DC Menu>Settings>Backup/Restore/Export)

I tried all of these steps,

I tried all of these steps, but still no luck. I was hopeful, because I normally play podcasts at 1.5x speed. I even tried normal speed, but no luck.

I connect to my car stereo with Bluetooth, but the stereo isn't capable to do Android Auto things. I just use my phone to manage the Android Auto application.

I'm going to be buying a new Subaru Impreza within a week or so, so I'll try it there where there's a touchscreen in the car that is supposed to display the Android Auto screens. Maybe it will work there. I love the app otherwise.

Still no luck with the new car

So I just drove home with my new car, and unfortunately it is still not working. I thought by using the integrated screen on the console that it would work. It must be the phone.

Log message

I connected my phone to the ADM to catch the log messages. Does this help?
02-28 07:51:02.597: I/DoggCatcher(10631): MediaSessionManager::onPlay
02-28 07:51:02.597: I/DoggCatcher(10631): HeadsetButtonEventHandler::MediaButton: Ignoring because headset adapter is not enabled

Verify if the "Respond to

Verify if the "Respond to Headset" & "Lockscreen Buttons" settings are enabled (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>Headset/Lockscreen) if not...turn them on. This should resolve the problem, if not Eric will respond later

Solved

Sorry, for some reason I didn't see the "Respond to Headset" option or I would have tried it. That did the trick. It's working perfectly now.

Thanks for your help!

I have the same problem

I tried to fix it by using the experimental player for marshmallow, but this made the problem worse. When I would exit doggcatcher because I had reached my destination, upon reloading it when I was back in the car the episode would be marked done and the next podcast would begin.

DC Issues

1st - Verify if the "Respond to Headset" setting is enabled RE:Posted above by DataSci

2nd - Also verify if the "Pause audio" & "Lock screen buttons" settings are enabled (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>Headset/Lockscreen) with the "Pause audio" setting enabled....if the headset disconnects, the app should pause playback.

3rd - Check if one or more of your feed subscriptions has a problem with duplicate file names, see FAQ post about this issue and how to resolve it - http://www.doggcatcher.com/node/6613

I have verified the settings.

I have verified the settings. Didn't have to change them, these have always been my settings. As to suggestion #3, the problem is present with every podcast. Also, Doggcatcher has worked perfectly since the standalone Android Auto app was first released. There was an update issued March 29th, the problems started for me after that.

So that I understand the

So that I understand the problem you're experiencing....the "Play/Pause" button doesn't work with Android Auto and episodes are marked done and deleted when you exit the app?
1. Enabling the "Respond to Headset" setting doesn't fix the "Play/Pause" button issue with Android Auto? - Not sure what else I can recommend for a fix for this issue.

2. Episodes are marked done and deleted when you exit the app, if the problem isn't with duplicate file names, check the "Auto Delete Policy" is set to "Done Episodes" (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>Global Feed Options) if set to "Keep latest X" change back to "Done"

Disable "Update feeds on start"if enabled (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>Feeds Updates) and change the "Feed update interval" to once or twice a day
