DETAILS:
DoggCatcher Version: 1.2.4147
Device: Nexus 6P
Android Build: NRD90U
Carrier: Project Fi
SUMMARY: Battery drain while app is open (even on background)
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1. Start DC
2. Play any podcast
3. Turn off screen
4. Turn on screen, pause podcast from lockscreen
5. Turn off screen (DC stays active in the background with podcast paused)
WHAT HAPPENS: Battery drains faster than playing podcast. Unless complete removal of app from RAM, battery drain keeps going.
WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN: DC app should not drain a full Nexus 6P battery in 4 hours of the app open, even when the podcast is on pause (this might be worse on cell phones with smaller batteries)
FREQUENCY: 100%
SEVERITY: Serious/Unusable (unless you can keep the cellphone on the outlet all day)
thanks for the help
Take a look at the Android battery app that shows what apps are using the battery (Device Settings) check if the problem is caused by the Android mediaserver
I'm having a similar issue with my 6p. Doggcatcher is lead cause of battery drain according to battery app. It drains heavily while playing and continues to drain when not active. I suspect this is an issue with the most recent version of Android. Please fix!
@maxter, @thepodmonster
The problem is usually caused by the Android mediaserver, try switching to the Marshmallow player (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>Advanced) Enable “Experimental Marshmallow Media Player”
