Playback Control with Pebble Time

I have a Pebble Time, and it works well to control playback for Google Play Music (e.g., play, pause, advance, go back). It also shows basic information about the current media playing from my phone.

When DoggCatcher is active, however, playback control does not work. The Pebble Time will show the current podcast being played (started from the phone), but the play and pause buttons have no effect.

In previous versions of the Pebble software on the phone, it was possible to specify which app on the phone the music app on the watch should control, but that is no longer the case. I believe the intention is that the watch should (finally) be able to tell whichever media app is currently playing on the phone and know to control that app via the Music app on the watch.

Unfortunately, at least for me, that doesn't seem to work with Doggcatcher.

Anyone know if there's something I can do to make this work as expected? (If at all possible, I'd rather not add an additional app, such as Music Boss, for this functionality.)

Pebble watch

The Pebble watch is not officially supported, other versions of app worked.... but app updates could have broken it.

Try disabling the “Variable Speed” player (DC Menu>Settings>Audio Player) and see if that helps.

For devices running Marshmallow..enable Android Marshmallow media player (DC Menu>Settings>Advanced>Experimental)

Thanks for the response!

Thanks for the response! Unfortunately, the tips weren't successful in getting it to work, but I appreciate your time.

Does anyone know if this is something that Pebble should address, or is the issue likely with DoggCatcher. I realize that just about every user has some pet feature, and that developers can't satisfy everyone, but this one is big enough to me that if this might work with other podcast players, I'd be inclined to switch. I guess I'll just give it a shot...

Pebble Support

I really like Doggcatcher, and I really like my pebble. Can I loan you a pebble for testing? The latest update had better playback information, it's just the playback controls that aren't working. Google Play Music and Spotify work as expected.

If the pebble interacts with

If the pebble interacts with the android media session (like android wear), then this coming friday's update may get this working for you...there's a bug fix in there that was causing newer samsung devices to not be able to control media playback over BT.

I don't have any near term plans to add playback controls via any custom integration with the pebble though.

No update for the Lite Version?

Pebble Music still doesn't work for me. Is it beacause I use the Lite Version (but I purchased a "DoggCatcher Premium License")
Thank you
