Android Wear controls seem to have broken

A recent update to either DC or Android Wear, I'm not sure, seems to have changed the interface on my Moto360 watch. It used to show a card that had a play/pause button on it that I could also swipe left and get volume/seek controls. Now, while I do still get the card with the play/pause button, swiping left shows only volume controls. Furthermore, the play/pause button on the main card will pause DC when I tap it, but then the card immediately goes away, and I can only get it back by resuming directly from my phone.

Looking at the "What's New" text in the play store for DC, I see something about Lollipop devices losing BT headset buttons... but it's listed as fixed, maybe somewhere in this fix is the cause for my issue? I'm running DC on a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, connected to a 1st gen Moto 360. Everything's up to date as of Oct 19.

Ahh, cool. I'm not very familiar with the issue tracker system, but I didn't see anything in there relating to the second part of my issue:

the play/pause button on the main card will pause DC when I tap it, but then the card immediately goes away, and I can only get it back by resuming directly from my phone.

Has anyone run into this? It very possibly could be settings related, but I haven't figured any solution out.

DC's Android Wear cards

Eric (Developer ) or Packy haven't responded yet, because maybe they haven't been able to reproduce DC's Android Wear cards disappearing issue yet. I imagine Eric will respond soon and Packy when he can.

I've just been able to reproduce this on my 2014 Nexus 6 running Android 5.1.1 build LMY48T, DoggCatcher 1.2.5224.
When I hit pause on my Moto360, the card disappears whether it was still translucent and not fully covering my watch face or whether it was in full screen mode and I'd been using it to FF/Rew immediately beforehand.
I haven't changed any settings on my 360 or DoggCatcher, so I don't think it's a settings issue.

I'm the one who raised the issue of the rewind/fast forward buttons being missing in the beta build, and It's working again in the beta as of Saturday night. I'll see if I can reproduce the disappearing card issue.

Ok, I've fixed the disappearing card thing. Thanks for the detailed report and also for the logs Packy.

I have not been able to reproduce the missing next/prev buttons though on the card you get when you swipe the notification left. Do you happen to have android auto hooked up at the time you're getting the problem?

This is the release channel

You already fixed the missing next/prev buttons in the beta channel after I reported the problem.
EQSenretsu is running the release channel and didn't see that fix until the latest update.

Disappearing card fixed!

I just got the latest beta build, and I was able to pause and restart a podcast from my Moto 360. Yay!
Since this is the public forum, next is the obligatory scheduling question: when is this build scheduled to hit the release channel?

That's good news.

That's good news.

The market version usually runs about a week behind unless I run into unexpected probs with the beta.

I believe I am having the same problem described at the start of this thread.
I just bought my first wear device a MkII Moto 360. If I start a new episode playing either from the phone or the browse option on wear all is good BUT as soon as I use the controls on wear to pause the playback then when I restart it the forward and back controls disappear.
I assume the fix mentioned above has not yet been released? (cos its not working for me if it has) do you have a release date? or is there beta I can try

and version 1.2.4124 released on 10-23--2015 0002155: Android wear rewind/fast forward buttons are missing - http://mantis.doggcatcher.com/view.php?id=2155

Check the version of the app installed on your device (In the DC Navigation Menu>About)

Thanks for your prompt reply

Thanks for your prompt reply
I have 1.2.4.126 but I am definitely still seeing something like issue 2155 but not 2162.
However I have done some investigation and the problem is a little more nuanced than I thought and I think the below scenario has been missed from the fix.

If I start a podcast from the phone I can pause and restart from anywhere and it all works fine. If I start a new pod cast from the phone again all is fine.
BUT
if I start a podcast from the wear music controller app by going to the "browse" feature THEN pause the playback from anywhere AFTER that the forward and back buttons disappear from the wear app.
Once this has happened it keeps happening. starting a new podcast from anywhere brings the forward and back buttons back but as soon as the playback is paused the buttons disappear again.
The only way to fix it after that seems to be to completely close the phone app AND start playing something else like Play Music and that seems to reset everything.
Now I have realized this there is an easy workaround i.e. don't use the watch to select podcasts to play but a fix would be appreciated because that is a good feature I was planning to use

I am using a standard un-rooted Galaxy S6 with a MkII moto 360. I only bought the Moto360 yesterday so I have no idea when this started happening

Yep, I'm seeing the same thing. The special case is exactly what you described about starting the audio from the wear browse.

I create a bug for this, I'll try to get it fixed shortly - http://mantis.doggcatcher.com/view.php?id=2175

Thanks for the detailed problem report.
