I can find and connect to ChromeCast Audio (CCA), however, while connected to the CCA, audio fails to cast, and instead continues to play though my device. I downloaded Pocket Casts & BeyondPod to see if CCA would only cast audio streams from "Official" audio apps, but I was able to cast properly from both.
Tested using a Samsung Note 4 (Verizon) & a Nexus 7 (2013).
P.S. I can still cast to both of my (Gen1) ChromeCasts.
My cca just shipped today. I'll start messing with it as soon as it arrives.
Thanks!!!
So this wasn't an application change, I had to register my app to declare that it supports cast audio.
This is working for me now, can you try it out?
I've got a Chromecast Audio and DC doesn't really seem to work with it. When I select it via the button the Chromecast Audio makes a "device connected" noise and my DC broadcast stops, but nothing comes out of the Chromecast.
I have all the dev tools for Android (not CC!) and can check logcat etc if that would help.
The problem you're describing only seems to happen when connecting to CCA or CC while playing back an episode.
Stop playback and then connect DC to the CCA or CC device, then press play to resume playback.
I created an issue for this - http://mantis.doggcatcher.com/view.php?id=2186
Thanks for posting.
I've done some searching, and I hope I am not duplicated issues already discussed. Here is the most important:
Auto-advance doesn't work when casting. When an episode finishes playing, it disappears, and appears to be done (DC only offers to mark it "new" or "in progress," but when you look at it in the feed view the episode is marked with an orange wedge, as if it just started. Next episode is there, new, and ready to play, but you have to start it by hand.
Now for some minor things...
Fast forward and backward are dodgy, and only sometimes work. It doesn't help that fast back doubles as a 'Cancel Casting" button, I think.
I can smoothly play or pause an episode while casting and it behave as it should. When you switch from internal to casting, it works better of DC is paused. But even then it doesn't pick up right were it should.
Eric has this on his to do list 0002087: Support auto-play with chromecast http://mantis.doggcatcher.com/view.php?id=2087 - curently listed under DoggCatcher - 1.2.four.after.next (Scheduled For Release 2017-05-29) http://mantis.doggcatcher.com/roadmap_page.php
Eric will respond later today or tomorrow regarding fast forward and backward button actions and playing back from the wrong paused position when switching from the DC player to casting with the CC/CCA devices
This maybe a network connection issue, because I can't reproduce the problem. Just in case it isn't...send a log right after you experience both problems again (DC Menu>Report Problem)
