BBC Episodes Keep reappearing

Hi there,

Recently all my BBC 4 podcasts seem to be reloading from months and months back even though I have repeatedly flagged them as done, they seem to go away then after a short while they download again which is extremely frustrating as I to have to remember where I last heard an episode and which ones have been done.

This started happening some weeks ago, any ideas why?

Thanks,
Frank

Diagnostics

Check if the feed has an issue and if the app can resolve the problem using the "Diagnostics" feature by long pressing on the BBC 4 feed on the feeds tab> press diagnostics> and if there is a problem like sorting or duplicate file names issue, “Press here to repair” on the “ Diagnostics” screen (Cloud Icon)

Thanks for the response.

Thanks for the response. Diagnostics seem to show everything is fine, but the problem persists unfortunately.

I should say this problem seems to be affecting BBC feeds (radio 1 and radio 4), just episodes I've listened to and marked as finished (thus should no longer be listed) keep coming back, and when downloading it says DL failed even though it does download them.

I know the BBC recently updated their podcasting structur, just not sure where the issue is at the mmoment because although I can mark all the feeds I have as finished (up the point where I need them) but after a while it will all just come back again from months and months back.

In the feed options, there's

In the feed options, there's a setting called episode identifier that is used to distinguish between existing and new episode. You can can one of the other options for that setting. Usually guid is the best, since it's supposed to be unique forever. If the publisher is changing that, then the options that match on other things can sometimes work ok.

I have checked and the option

I have checked and the option was already on Guid, very frustrating unfortunately as soon as a new episode is loaded it loads in the entire history for some reason.... I'll try and unsubscribe thrn resubscribe, see if that does anything.

I don't think unsubscribing

I don't think unsubscribing will help but the other options for episode identifier might. If guid is selected and you are seeing episodes re-appear, then the publisher is misusing the guid. In that case, title is what I would try next.

Just had the last 100

Just had the last 100 Guardian Film podcast episodes (which I've already listened to) download onto my list again for some reason (this after the podcast had been empty for a few days).

If those episodes were

If those episodes were flagged as done before, and you have the episode identifier set to guid, and now the episodes are new, then the publisher changed the guid on the episodes. The guid is that way we can tell episodes apart, if they change it, there isn't any way for us to know that an episode is the same as an older one with a different guid.

I would contact the publisher and see if they are aware of this.

Thanks for posting.
