Varied File/Playback/Download Errors in Doggcatcher

Files won't playback or if they do there are chirps and skips, sometimes they switch to different files suddenly. Here are the details:

I'm using Doggcatcher Version 1.2.4086 on my AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 (running Android 4.4.4) <-My personal phone

I have Doggcatcher set to use my microSD card for storage (San Disk Ultra 64GB microSDXC I)

Today I started with a fresh install. Deleted the old version of Doggcatcher and downloaded the latest from the app store (had to re-pay for it, but I'll tackle that issue another time.)

I subscribed to several shows and downloaded some episodes. At first everything seemed to work but a few hours later I was getting playback errors on most of the episodes I had downloaded. Sometimes episodes would play but not cleanly. Sometimes audible chirps, other times one episode would suddenly jump to a different episode from a different show (despite Doggcatcher still showing it was playing the original episode).

I used the long press option in Doggcatcher to delete the media file and the I re-downloaded that episode. Same mixed results. Sometimes I would immediately get playback errors, sometimes I would immediately get an episode from a different show and that episode would chip and skip.

This all sounds like my microSD card might be corrupted though I have lots of other apps stored on it and I store my photos on it and all of those apps and photos have being working fine.

I decided I'd back it up and format it anyway to see if that helps. That opened a CAN OF WORMS!

I was able to open the card in windows 7 using a sony card reader and an SD card adapter. I could not format that card though even with specialized SDcard formatting software. I kept getting "write protected" errors and trust me I tried every different position for that "lock" switch.

I also tried formatting the card in my phone. The phone indicates that the format was successful but when the card is remounted all the files are back as if nothing happened.

I even tried formatting the card in my work phone which is a Verizon Galaxy S4 (running Andriod 4.4.2) Same result, it looks like it worked but then all the files come back.

Can anyone confirm that they have trouble free use of Doggcatcher on a Galaxy phone running this verion of Android? I strongly suspect there's something off in the new SD card permissions.

Last thing of note. I downloaded Doggcatcher on the Verizon phone, and using the internal storage this time, it has worked flawlessly for a few hours now.

I love Doggcatcher for it's features but if I can't store my podcasts on the microSD......deal breaker.

To anyone who read all of this THANKS!

To verify if the problem is

To verify if the problem is the card...try another card, but from what you're describing the card is corrupted. You should be able to reformat card & all current media files should be deleted

Again, can't format card.

Right, I SHOULD be able to format the card.....but I can't. I'm reluctant to devote another card of any significant size to just me phone.

The reason why you can't

The reason why you can't reformat the card is because it's defective and eventually you'll start having problems with other files stored on card. The phone itself won't corrupt the second card, so trying another shouldn't be a problem and just verify if current problem is caused by the card or an issue with DC.
