audio spontaneously pauses

Ever since the most recent update I've had a problem with the audio spontaneously pausing. Sometimes it does it when I open other apps (it happens often when I open Chrome or Twitter) and sometimes it happens when no other apps are involved. For example, I'll be playing an episode and after several minutes and without touching anything on my phone, the audio will pause. Other times, I'll be in Doggcatcher, press play on an episode, then go to my home screen and the audio will pause when I leave the app. This problem only started after the most recent update of the app.

Phone: Nexus 5, running Lollipop. Android build number LRX210
Carrier: Mobilicity in Canada
Doggcatcher version 1.2.4083

I'm seeing the same behavior.

I'm seeing the same behavior. The first instance I remember it happening was Sunday, so it does seem to correspond with the recent update, but who knows.

I've had it happen with Bluetooth headphones, as well as the bluetooth in my car. I haven't been using wired headphones recently, so I can't rule out something with the bluetooth on my phone though.

I have seen it saying "Preparing File" when trying to resume right away some of the time.

I have pretty much the same exact setup too:

more information

Since I posted earlier today I've been paying more attention to this and I actually think the app is not pausing but crashing. When I click on the app again to re-start the audio it starts up like it wasn't just open.
I usually listen to podcasts with wired earbuds or out loud (with the phone's speaker) and it pauses/crashes using both thsese listening methods.

memory leak

I have had the same issue, I have seen other people having issues with this with other apps and they have indicated that it is a memory leak in google play services. I just got an update to 5.0.1 so maybe this update will address these issues.

I've had this happen to DC

I've had this happen to DC and other audio apps like Spotify. After running lollipop for a week or so, it needs a reboot. Otherwise opening up apps with audio playing in the background causes android to kill the audio apps.

I just got my 5.0.1 also, so I'll report back if the problem was fixed in that update.

5.0.1 update

I also updated to 5.0.1 today and so far it seems to have fixed the problem.

I'm still on 5.0 at the moment, but I did restart my phone this morning.
Truthfully I don't remember the last time I restarted my phone, so if it's a memory leak, that could be it.
I'll report back if I have the problem. It was starting to happen quite frequently, so I'll probably see it pretty quickly if it is still happening despite the reboot.

After an hour or so of

After an hour or so of continual use, I saw no unwanted pausing at all, so it definitely seems like that might be a fix (or at least helps) for those still on 5.0 (although installing 5.0.1 probably reboots the phone anyway, so that might not be an actual fix).
