Diane Rehm Show - updates need to be forced

I've been listening to this by podcast for years. Over recent weeks the feed has given me trouble and doesn't update unless I use the Force Update feature which I usually remember to do by Tuesday or Wednesday. I am not sure why this is required. It worked fine until maybe 3-4 weeks ago, and it's the only one of my titles which has this issue. Not a huge deal but wondered whether I am alone in experiencing this? - Ann

Well, it's been happening

Well, it's been happening with some persistence, though not every day, so I finally did the send log with an attached note option. It's not that huge a pain to remove the filter and do a manual Force Update, it's just that I forget it's not there, and end up with a week's worth at once. :) (oh how spoiled I am!)

Log

I haven't seen a log from you yet, send another right after the problem happens again.

publication date problems

Yea, I'm not the only one having this problem.

When it happens Feed "Update Status" reports a Feed publication date far, far in the future. The year is like 8000-9000. I'll send a report next time I notice it. One possible work-around is for Doggcatcher to ignore dates in the future (or at least far in the future)

Date

Contact he publisher of the feed & them know about the problem, in the meantime create a user playlist for the feed and add all or just the episodes you want to playback (Example download all episodes from a particular date DC will playback in the order published. See User Guide on user playlists http://www.doggcatcher.com/node/1755

forcing the update works and

forcing the update works and is easier than setting up a custom playlist.
I thought about informing the show, but I can never get an example to show them... it's working the next poll, but by then DoggCatcher already stored the bogus value.

What's probably happening is

What's probably happening is that the publisher isn't correctly setting these http headers (may not make sense but it should to them):

ETag
Last-Modified

That tells DC whether we need to get a new copy of the feed from the publisher. Force update overrides that.
