Starting playback with bluetooth controls

I have a strange issue with bluetooth controls and DoggCatcher. I have bluetooth in my car and it automatically connects to my phone when I get in. When I am playing a podcast, I can control it just fine using the stereo controls (Pause/Play, RW, FF, etc) as long as I have pressed play in DoggCatcher first. If I have DoggCatcher up but haven't press play on my phone, it doesn't respond to any commands.

I can watch the log of events and see that it recognizes the bluetooth headset has connected. My car stereo headunit will recognize what it is trying to play though and display that text on the screen for a few seconds, then go back to the "Pause" text like it shows when playback is paused. But it won't register any commands until I press Play manually. Then the commands I had been pressing will all come flooding in.

Has anyone seen this issue before? Any ideas on things to try and fix it? If DoggCatcher exposed intents or was open to being controlled by Tasker it would be an easy fix. I have tried making sure DoggCatcher was launched and open when trying to control and that didn't work.

Yep, that's pretty much the

Yep, that's pretty much the desired behavior. That was also the way other audio apps like music and spotify worked the last time I checked them. I think the rationale behind that is that let's say your were listening to music through spotify and then you opened DC. At that point you would probably expect bluetooth controls to affect the audio playing in spotify. Once you hit play in DC, spotify stops and then DC owns the bluetooth buttons at that point.

Here's a relevant faq on the topic - http://www.doggcatcher.com/node/858

Is there any plan for Tasker

Is there any plan for Tasker integration? Or some intents so that playback can be started without the app being open? Right now I have a Tasker profile that activates when my car bluetooth is connected. It launches Doggcatcher, mutes audio, press play, then pauses, then turns volume back up and goes to home screen. This allows me to press play on my car stereo if I want to start listening to a podcast. It has the problem that it doesn't work with my case though because my screen won't turn on all the way to control the app. It would be really nice if there was some automation support.

Keep DoggCatcher open for certain time

What's the maximum amount of time that DC will own the bluetooth controls? I want to wake up in the morning and use my headset to play from DoggCatcher where I left off but even if I play DoggCatcher before I go to sleep, by the time I wake up the bluetooth controls don't work and I need to get my phone and manually press play first. Is there any way to keep the controls with DoggCatcher for a longer period of time?

During the night or after

During the night or after long periods of device & Bluetooth inactivity, the app will lose Bluetooth control, to regain control..you're going to have to manually press play first.
Currently their isn't away change this activity from within the app, since Android OS controls what happens during device inactivity.
