Best headset button solution

i use many different types of headphones for listening to podcasts based on what type of environment i'm in. anyone know of an adapter that can be added in-line to headphones that provides the 'headset button' so i can pause/resume playback? preferably as short-corded as possible. thanks!

Unfortunatly I can't help you

Unfortunatly I can't help you with you question, but I have a similar need, but would prefer to have the multimedia buttons available on the phone instead.

I also use different kinds of headsets listening to doggcatcher on my HTC Magic. I like that I can volume up and down using the buttons on my phone even if the screen is locked. I also like that I can pause by unplugging the haedphones. Actually the only thing I miss is a way to press play when the phone is locked. I would love to being able to assign one of the other buttons as play/pause button, and it should work without unlocking the screen. Or maybe dobble click the volume uo or down could be play/pause?

I tried this. It sticks so

I tried this. It sticks so far out of the cell phone that it's just begging to catch on something and either break off or destroy the 3.5mm socket on the phone.

Button assignment

I would really like to be able to assign one of the hard buttons to DC functions, but I looked into it a while back and it wasn't possible. I also saw some discussions involving the android engineers and I got the impression that this isn't something that was going to be available in the future. I guess I can kind of see why...it could be risky letting apps get control of those buttons, but it sure would be nice.

I use this

I use this on my Droid. Works great.

It seems that any headset adapter made for an iPhone will work on a Droid.
