Screen turns off when progressing to next podcast in playlist

Hi,

I have the feature enabled to keep the screen on whilst playing (Dim), for use in my car. This works perfectly until I reach the end of a podcast and the playlist auto progresses to the next in the list. As soon as it starts the next item the screen immediately turns off and the phone locks. I imagine the wakelock is removed at the end of the current track? The audio keeps playing but I can no longer control the phone without turning it on and unlocking it again.

Google Nexus 4
Android KitKat 4.4.2
DC 1.2.3038 Lite - Purchased

Thanks!

Enable lock screen controls

Enable lock screen controls (In the DC Menu>Settings>Headset/Lockscreen>Lock screen buttons) On some devices in order for LSC to work, you also have to enable "Secure with Pin" from your device settings>lock screen>screen lock.

Not sure I follow how that's

Not sure I follow how that's related to the screen turning off when progressing in a playlist?

If the phone is locked & LSC

If the phone is locked & LSC is enabled, you can control DC playback of media files. If that is what you mean by "You can no longer control the phone without turning it on and unlocking it again" Sorry if I misunderstood the problem.

OK I see what you meant,

OK I see what you meant, thanks. I can do basic control but can't choose another episode in the playlist as the screen is locked.

Really I'd like the bug fixed if possible. It only seems to happen when the phone is charging via the USB dock on my headunit. If it's just playing via Bluetooth and not charging it doesn't turn off so I think a wakelock is getting dismissed incorrectly when the phone is charging.

Yeah I can definitely see how

Yeah I can definitely see how that's happening, but I can't find an easy way to fix it for those that have a non-default 'keep screen on' setting without breaking it for everyone else.

I created an issue for this - http://mantis.snoggdoggler.com/view.php?id=1822

Thanks for reporting the problem.

Hi Eric, Just in case it's

Hi Eric,

Just in case it's useful in fixing the problem, the same issue happens whenever another application demands audio focus, not just when changing to the next episode in the list. For instance when a calendar reminder pops up the screen turns off. Also when an incoming call happens.

I think I've got this fixed

I think I've got this fixed in the case of switching episodes. It'll probably get release to the market the friday after this coming one.

Please let me know if that fixes it for you. If so, I'll see if I can apply the same fix to the other scenarios.

Thanks.

Hi Eric,Thanks for the

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the update on this. Was this fix included in 1.2.3042? If so I'm afraid the problem is still there when progressing to the next podcast :(

In fact, I'm not sure if I was wrong previously, or this version introduced a different problem, but the screen IS turning off when the phone isn't charging, also.

Thanks

The fix hasn't been released

The fix hasn't been released yet but it'll go out this friday.

The screen turning off when the phone isn't charging isn't something that DC controls, there might be an android setting for that.

DC is keeping the screen on

DC is keeping the screen on whilst playing, even when the phone isn't charging. As soon as DC switches to the next podcast in the list the screen turns off. It appears to be the same problem.
