Add feed view improvements don't seem to work...

When I saw the change log saying that the add feed screen now had full names on it, I thought it meant it had a list view option added to it.

Sadly, it's still just small chunky icons with the feed names truncated and no urls shown.

What was changed?

Complete Feed Title

If you mean http://mantis.snoggdoggler.com/view.php?id=1796 for the ability to view complete feed title from the add feeds screens - on the subscribe to feed screen press on any feed title in the DC Top Feeds, Search Feeds,Recommendations, Categories,Twit & Rev3 directories, this will show the complete feed title and in some cases, the feed description.

Display the feed's URL on the feed preview screen - http://mantis.snoggdoggler.com/view.php?id=1783 &
On feed search results, display the URL for the feed - http://mantis.snoggdoggler.com/view.php?id=1481
are still on the to do list

Not quite...

I think the point (at least *my* point, heh) was that any list of feeds from any of those screens you mention should display the complete feed title in the LIST view - you shouldn't have to do an extra click to view more about it.

Ideally, any list view would have an option to view it in a non-icon way (full list, one entry per row, with full feed and URL displayed right there, scrolling if necessary). That would be more usable (again, by me - anyone else who agrees, please chime in!)

Basically, in my Perfect World, anyplace that now displays things as icons should also have a one-item-per-row list view that shows more info and scrolls all title and URL info, so that no extra clicking need happen, and we can compare feed-to-feed without having to "click/go back/click/go back/ad-infinitum" if you know what I mean.

I see. I imagine Eric will

I see. I imagine Eric will respond later today or tomorrow, if it's possible to implement that option with DC.

If you let the tiles sit

If you let the tiles sit there for a second, the full titles should scroll, is that not happening?

Ok, it's scrolling now...

The feed titles are now scrolling on the search view.

I still think there should be an option for one-result-per-line so you can see more of the feed title at once, and also see the feed URL. :-)

I haven't solved the problem

I haven't solved the problem of displaying the url, but the version the beta testers have now show two lines of the title. Nearly all feeds fit within that and those that don't are pretty obvious from what is displayed.

That should hit the market in a week or so.

Thanks for your continuous

Thanks for your continuous improvements, eric!

I will still push for a non-tile interface on the add-feed page, just 'cuz that's the way I am; but don't let that make you think I don't appreciate all your great work! :-)

EDIT: Just downloaded today's release, and titles on add-feed page are no longer scrolling, even if they are too long to display. Is that on purpose? Did you remove the scrolling? Even with 2 lines, there are plenty of times when the podcast title is much longer than what can be displayed - not good.

Yes, I removed the scrolling

Yes, I removed the scrolling and added a second line of display (scrolling doesn't work with multiple line display). I scanned through a bunch of feeds and for nearly all I could figure out what they were by only seeing the first two lines of their titles. The only ones that seems to be a potential problem were the same feed with a long title in multiple formats and the format is at the end.

We'll have to agree to

We'll have to agree to disagree then. Maybe we could take a poll? :-)

There were two things

There were two things changed. On the add feeds screen tiles, the full titles of the feeds will scroll horizontally a fraction of second after you stop scrolling. That should help differentiate between similar feeds. Also pressing on a tile to preview the feed is much faster now.

That's not happening for me.

That's not happening for me. Nothing is scrolling on those tiles.
