Items in playlist but can't play anything

Hi there,

I just downloaded Doggcatcher and added about 20 feeds. I set them all to auto download two episodes. Two questions:

1. It seems the auto download feature downloads the two *oldest* instead of the two *newest* episodes. I'm not interested in episodes that are several months old. How can I set Doggcatcher to download the newest episodes instead?

2. My playlist now has about 40 media files, all with status Ready. When I go to the playlist and click the Play button, I get the error message "No Item is loaded" and nothing plays. How do I play my downloaded files?

/Martin

Oldest

1 - You can flag all the items as old except for the latest two and then only the latest two will download. There are some other discussions on this topic that I'll post here in a bit. When you add new feeds, only the most recent item should be flagged as new. Is this what's happening?

2 - You can press on one of the items that shows ready. DC should probably just play the first item in the playlist in this case.

Thanks for the feedback.

Downloading most recent

#1 - It looks like there's a bug. When you create a new feed, all the items except the first should be marked as 'Done'. This way your first download will be the most recent. I created a mantis issue for this.

I also updated the faq with this snip

Q: Why does DoggCatcher download the oldest items first?
A: During normal usage, one would usually want to listen to older items first. DoggCatcher will download the oldest items that are flagged as 'New', up to the number configured in the 'Auto Download' feed option.

When creating new feeds, all items but the most recent are flagged as old so that the most recent will be the first available.

You can flag any items as 'Done' that you don't want to have downloaded.

#2 - I created a mantis issue for this

Thanks for bringing this up

Regarding #2, it looks like it only ever worked when adding feeds by RSS URL. When adding via search, recommendations, top, or popular, it wasn't marking any of them done.

Good catch. I've got this fixed, it'll be in the next release.
