Basic Question About Adding to Playist

Hi all, purchased a Droid Eris and I'm new to Doggcatcher. Hate to ask such a simple question, but trying to figure this out is driving me nuts. I'm used to playing podcasts on my iPhone.

I see there are three screens and I can't find in the user guide a clear description of the difference. I've tried to deduce this from working with it.

The Doggcatcher-Feed screne shows me all my feeds, with the number of unplayed episode, designated by a blue number.

When I go to the DoggCatcher - Item screen, I see the name of the episode and when I click on it, I get the summary of the show. In this instance, Phanroid.

How do I add an unplayed episode to my playlist? At times this works, but other times I'm stuck like I am now.

How do I add all unplayed (I have my feed setting to download only one episode and the display set to "1" and mark items as done when finished)

Did anyone think about posting screen shots to the online guide.

Thanks so much as I want to put the iPhone on the shelf.

Playlist

I know the docs are a little weak on this topic. I just recently finished adding a new feed that ships with DC that points to a forum where I plan on putting tips & tricks. That's probably where this info should land.

You can add it to your DC, here's the URL

Regarding the 3 screens

Feeds - list all your feeds
Items - list all the items for one feed (depending on which one you pressed on to get there)
Playlist - list all items that are new or in progress that have been downloaded.

So if there's something that you want to show in the playlist, you can the the state to new, and then it will appear in the playlist.

I think the confusion might be around the playlist only showing items that have been downloaded. It sounds like you might be expecting to see all new items there, even ones that haven't been downloaded.

Through normal use, you would work off of the playlist, listen to an item, it would get flagged as done. The next feed update will delete it and download more if you have it configured to. So you shouldn't really need to set the states (new/in progress/done) under normal circumstances.

Eric, thanks for the

Eric, thanks for the response, very helpful indeed. Here's the problem I'm having.

I marked an episode in a feed as new, and it shows that in the DoggCatcher-Items list with a blue bar. Also, the Doggcatcher-Lists page shows the feed with a blue "1." It is not in the playlist and I want to know how to get it to the playlist so I can listen to i.

Thanks again,
JA

So if the item is flagged as new and it has been downloaded, then it should show up in the playlist. Can you verify that the item has been downloaded? You'll see either a music/video/news icon on the item. If you see a down arrow, then it hasn't been downloaded, so you can then press on the item and it should download.

If it was already downloaded but still isn't showing on the playlist then we may have a bug. If so, let me know and we'll figure out what to do next.

I got it now

If you see a news icon instead of a music icon, then one of two things is happening.

1 - there is not media for that item, in which case it shouldn't get added to the playlist because there's nothing to play
2 - there are more than one media file in the item (feeds aren't supposed to do this, but sometimes they do) and we're picking up the wrong one.

Can you please post the feed url and I'll figure out what's happening.

Thanks.
