some suggestion

I subscribe to 187 podcasts Audio and love your podcatcher. This is my second request( the first was about feed options---Tx). If you ever need a beta tester I'm your man.

Suggestion 1. As new podcasts are added they are put on top of playing que. Can you make an option to add then to bottom of play que of add then in date order with oldest at top.

Suggestion 2: Can you make a folder system so if you get some podcasts you want to wait to listen to you can open that folder as a diferent playlist.

Also I need help on how to play audiobooks.

Good feedback

1 - I get the first part, but I'm not sure I understand the second part. It sounds like the current playlist but reversed.

2 - You can pretty much do this now by going into the list of items for a feed and pressing play on one of them. Since the playlist is grouped by feed, it will continue playing all the items in the feed.

For audio books, you'll want to look at the virtual feed option described here.

Thanks for the feedback.

f/u on good feedback.and a few new items.

1) Yes I think I am asking to reverse the order of the playlist so that the newest are on the bottom instead of the top.

2) if the item is new in the feed it is put into the playlist. Is there anyway to prevent this till you want to play it. There are lots of my podcasts I wait to listen to until I have listened to the ones I want to listen to soonest.

New questions:

3) for enhanced podcasts can there be someway to see chapter photos and also is there some way to skip to end of chapter without skipping entire podcast.

4) I can start and stop the podcast using the clicker on my handfree phone headphone/speaker (great feature) can this somehow be used with enhanced podcasts to skip chapters like by doing two quick clicks?

5) can there be way to download audiobooks from service like audible.com

1. Are you talking about the

1. Are you talking about the playlist, or the episodes screen that shows up when you select the podcast? Currently the playlist is ordered with the podcasts in the same order as in the main screen, but with the oldest episodes first, while the episodes screen is ordered the other way around.

2. The way I do what I think you want (i.e., there are some podcast I always listen to right away, and others that I only want to listen to when there are no episodes of the first group to listen to) is to order the main feed list so the first group is on top. That way the playlist gets ordered the same way. To move feeds around do a long-press and select Move.

Questions

3 - I have an issue for that one, I updated it with a reference with this post - http://mantis.snoggdoggler.com/view.php?id=275

4 - Good idea, I created an issue for this.

5 - I don't know this for a fact but I'm pretty sure that audible media has drm on it. That is something the would need to be addressed on the android platform, most likely with cooperation from Audible.

There's a fairly recent related post here on this topic - http://androidforums.com/application-requests/6437-app-audible-com-neede...

For audiobooks I use

For audiobooks I use http://www.podiobooks.com. Not your usual run-of-the-mill books, many new authors but lots of very, very, VERY good stuff. Also, if you already have some audiobooks in MP3 format you can use the Virtual podcast feature. Note that audible.com is not MP3, it's a proprietary format with DRM. I'm not sure if, for example, iTunes will let you burn Audible books onto a CD which you can then RIP into MP3s or if there's any program out there which will crack the DRM and leave you with raw MP3 files. (Obligatory disclaimer: note that in some places cracking DRM could be considered a felony)

Can you talk me through what you are doing?

Can you talk me through what you are doing?

You can play audio books by creating a virtual feed and then putting all the media files in the directory that DC creates for the virtual feed.

It's wasn't documented well

I just updated the user guide with this. I will also put some version of this info in a dialog when you toggle the virtual feed option so you don't have to dig through the user guide.

You were close, you need to put the media files directly, not a folder containing them, into the numbered folder assigned to the feed.

Sorry for the confusion.

Virtual Feed
A virtual feed uses a folder on the SD card as content for a feed. E.g., you can place audio files from an audio book in a folder and play them like a regular feed.

Steps to creating a virtual feed:

  • Create a feed and enable the 'virtual feed' feed option.
  • View the list of feeds. Your new virtual feed will have a number in the title.
  • Place the media files in the folder on your SD card that corresponds to the folder for the virtual. E.g. /sdcard/DoggCatcher/EpisodeEnclosures/[number].
  • Update the feed

EDIT my last comment

I'm not sure what I was thinking, but now that I've got a few more podcasts in the queue I see that it sorts the podcasts the way I like it after all.
