Thanks, I was curious about this too. So it's entirely at the discretion of the publisher how many they keep in their RSS? Most seem to keep 10. Is that the standard number?
It is up to the publisher to decide how many to publish.
But.....
The reason you are seeing 10 episodes is that DoggCatcher currently only supports 10. We were having some performance issues in much earlier releases that prohibited managing more than 10, but most or all of those have been resolved.
We have "a configurable number of episodes per podcast" on the future features list.
This podcast only publishes the single most recent episode in their RSS feed, so you won't be able to download any older episodes with a podcatcher.
You can download older episodes from their archive - http://www.thisamericanlife.org/Radio_Archive.aspx
