I would like the "update feeds"-button to only update feeds that are in the active feed category (the feeds that are currently displayed), instead of all of the feeds DC knows about.
Reasoning:
I often want to check my favorite podcasts for new items, and updating all the feeds takes more time than necessary, so I end up updating each of them manually. It would be nice to have an option for this.
I also think it makes more sense for the update button at the top of the feed list to affect only the feeds that are in fact visible.
I would also expect most people that have selected a filter to be currently interested in the displayed feeds, so by that logic it would server the users better if those feeds have priority for any action.
Alternative: Make the system update the feeds in active category first, and after that the rest.
Alternative: Have an option for "update only active category" show up after long-pressing the "update feeds"-button.
Alternative: Have that option in the menu that has "settings", "categories", "download queue" etc.
I'm hesitant to change the current behavior but all of the alternatives could work. I created an issue for this - http://mantis.snoggdoggler.com/view.php?id=1644
Thanks for the feedback.
I agree. When changing active behaviour there is always a risk of stepping on the behaviour someone else is comfortable using in the current way.
