One my pod casts uses .m4a audio files. they are playing as video. they are playing fine but they have a black screen and will not allow me to shut the screen off without stopping playback. they show the video icon next to the pod cast instead of the headphone icon.
I was sure .m4a was an audio format.
any help here would be great.
thanks
The latest update resolved this problem, version 1.2.4008 released on February 23, 2013
See post with a similar issue - http://www.doggcatcher.com/node/3366#comment-12194
please post the url and Eric will check it out.
the link to is http://podcast.bauerradio.com/clyde/superscoreboard/feed.xml
I have version 1.2.4008 installed.
FYI they have both mp3 and m4a files on the feed.
Also, if it helps, im using a Samsung SIII GT-I9300.
Thanks
That feed is declaring the media files to be of type video. You'd have to get in contact with the publisher and have them correct that.
Here's a snip from the feed, see the video/m4a at the, that's what they'll need to fix.

Thanks for posting.
Thanks Eric,
I have contacted them and let them know, although I have a suspicion they will not do anything. in the meantime I have discovered the play as audio option in doggcatcher. works perfectly.
So dose anyone know if this is a common issue, for publishers to miss declaring there media? if it is I might be worth while having an always play as audio option in the feed options, or maybe add to play list as audio option.
These kinds of things can get broken when people set up new podcasts or when they switch the software they use to publish the podcasts, but they usually get sorted out.
Glad you found a workaround in the mean time.
