PLaying my own audio files in the doggcatcher player

I just bought your app and really enjoy it. It's the best podcasting experience I've had and fulfilled something that i was missing a lot from my iphone. Now the one thing I have left to ask for is to have a way to add my own mp3 files as podcasts so I can play them on your player. I download radio shows that don't have feeds and they just copy as mp3. I put these mp3's on my SD card and I would love to be able to play these on your player because of the resume and pause-resume-on-call feature.

This is something I enjoyed doing on my iphone since I could set any mp3 to remember positionining. Thanks a lot for a great app hope to hear from you soon eric!

Kind words

Thank you very much for the kind words.

I think you can accomplish what you are looking for by using a virtual feed (it's in the advanced section of the feed options). Create a new virtual feed, then DC will create a directory for you. Remember the number you see on the feeds screen. Just drop your mp3's in the feeds directory and they should show up as feed items. The directory should be something like /doggcatcher/episodeenclosures/[number].

Let me know if you run into any problems.

I'll try this method as soon

I'll try this method as soon as I get a chance, if it works out I'll be upping my rating from 4 to 5 starts.

Keep it up eric! Btw I heard about this app from Leo Laporte!

*edit*

OK I just found it, I had to click on:
MENU button then > Add Feed > Rss URL
then don't enter any info just scroll down to virtual feed and check it on.

This is exactly what I was looking for! You should think about adding a "create virtual feed" option in the "add feed" menu instead. I would have never figured this out on my own and I'm guessing I'm not alone there :)

Good feedback

That add feed screen needs some work, whether it's splitting into two or something, I'm not sure yet.

Lots of people struggle with it, I'll see if I can clean it up a bit.

Can I send Doggcatcher to retrieve mp3 files from Dropbox

Currently I have a few radio shows I like to listen to that don't yet make their shows available for download. I use Replay Radio to record them and automatically save them to Dropbox. I then have to open my Dropbox app on my Pixel phone and download those files from Dropbox to the phone (within the Dropbox app). I then manually move those show files on my phone from the Dropbox app to the episode enclosure file for my Doggcatcher virtual feed. This process seems kind of clunky. Is there an easier way to do this? Can I have Doggcatcher automatically go out and get the files from Dropbox or Replay Radio? Any way to program and record live radio within Doggcatcher? Any help would be appreciated.
