DoggCatcher rewrites "Media Button Pressed" settings every time it is started

Hi,

I have an issue in which DoggCatcher starts every time I connect to bluetooth in my car. I use Autostarts to control the behavior of my handset. I discovered that, if I disable "Media Button Pressed" event from being passed to DoggCatcher, the setting is restored the next time DoggCatcher is started. It took me a while to analyze the issue.

I consider any program that overrides my settings on my device malware.

Therefore, unless your software can be modified to respect my wishes on how my device is supposed to operate, I request a refund on my purchase price.

I just discovered this, and I reserve the right to alert as many users or potential user of this feature.

Best Regards

Ric

There are some bluetooth

There are some bluetooth stereos that send a play command when you connect a bluetooth device to them. That might be what's happening to you. I can confirm if you send a log right after it happens (in the dc menu).

I'm not sure I understand what you mean about the setting being restored. Do you mean that you are changing doggcatcher settings but they are not being saved?

I'd be happy to issue a refund if the app isn't working out for you, just send me the google checkout number and I'll get it taken care of.

Thanks for posting.

I looked into what autostarts

I looked into what autostarts is doing and I think it's just disabling the receiver that doggcatcher uses to get notified when the buttons are pressed. When doggcatcher starts back up the next time, it registers the receiver again. That's pretty much the way any app that wants to be notified when the buttons are pressed will handle it.

What you can do to get DC to stop responding to the buttons is to change the DC preference - headset / bind to headset. The receiver will still show up in the list but DC still won't respond to the buttons.
