Re-playing audio in current playlist

As a long time podcast listener (since 2003) on MP3 device, but a complete newbie to smartphone and Doggcatcher, I am missing a key capability. I have searched the user guide, the FAQ and the forum and not found it mentioned, but if I missed it, please accept my apology.

I, no doubt like many (including my wife), listen to a long series of episodes of various podcasts, and at times somehow miss hearing one due to distraction, or simply by falling asleep. We then want to either check back and see if we missed hearing any, or simply go back and listen again.

In a "no name" MP3 player, one plays through the folder of downloaded episodes and then deletes manually. In context of Doggcatcher, what we would like is the option for Autoplay to mark the items played as "listened" rather than "done" - a flag half way in-between "in progress" and "done". We can then, using a filter either delete the "listened" items, play them (making them "done") or change their flag back to "new" for inclusion in a later listening session.

Thanks for a great product. Again, please excuse my ignorance in case this issue has already been raised - or even better solved. If so please inform me of the work-around to address my common situation.

You can quite do exactly what

You can't quite do exactly what you are asking but close. The current states available are new/in progress/done. What you could do is just set the auto-delete policy for all the feeds to 'none'. This way, when an episode reaches the end, it will be flagged as done, but the media file will remain. You could then manually delete the media file as your way of being done-done.

Do you think that would work for you?

Thanks for posting.

Thanks! But . . .

Thank you so much Eric for your excellent and quick support! Much appreciated and impressive!

I am now using the work-around of not using auto-play. Your solution is certainly much better, but will the "done" episodes be easily seen (keeping in mind I have 60 feeds) and easily deleted? If so, then I'm certainly a happy camper!

Again - congrats on an excellent product - and on the follow-through of excellent support!

You'll be able to see them on

You'll be able to see them on the screen for each feed, so you need to dig into each feed to remove them. Deleting is a matter of long pressing on an episode and then press delete.

Thanks for supporting the app.

Too painful

Thanks Eric - but this method of search and destroy for the "done-done" is not sufficiently friendly for my purpose. May I suggest an updated filter based on the done flag to address this? Until then or perhaps a more elegant solution, I guess I'll just listen with auto-play off, or for short playlists remember which episodes are included, so that I can recover one or more if needed.

Thanks again - and I look forward to using your product and watching it become better and better!

May you go from success to success

Sorry we can't get DC to do

Sorry we can't get DC to do what you want with its current functionality. I'll keep this in mind in case I can think of any way down the road to help out with this scenario.

Thanks for posting your feedback.

Is there a way of keeping the podcast just played on the playlis

Hello,

I was able to find a lot of answers to a lot of question in this forum.
You can delete the post or ask me to post another one if that would be helpful.
I don't want to clog up this forum with useless posts

My question is a lot like the one in this post.
I would like to be able to see the podcasts I just played in the playlist.
Sometimes I too get distracted and I miss the end of a podcast or I forget to turn my player off.
I don't always know which podcast it was listening to or I have listened too I would like to not have podcasts drop off my playlist.
Is there some log file I can access that shows me what I played and possibly when I listened to it( I can program myself a little and that would help me too).
The main reason is I backup my podcasts and after they are backed up I can just delete them from the playlist instead of going through the feeds.

Also my phone screen(LG Optimus V) isn't all that big and I would like to be able to turn off the icons.
The podcasts I listen to start with the date and I never can get the names there is enough space for that info but my screen isn't wide enough.

I also have a feature request I created my own directories for my podcasts and I was wondering if it is possible so I can put different feeds in the same directory.

Lastly Plus I would also like to say +1 for the option to auto add feeds to a playlist.

If you would like me to find appropriate posts and split these questions up. I've noticed my brain is wired quite differently than other peoples and usually the way I like to work is not the way most other people like to work or do things.

I'm a paid subscriber and bought the app on the market but the price is so low just reading this email means you just made a loss on your product. Unless my comments add to the value of the forums which I tried to word and add to a post so it would.
Feel free to delete if it doesn't though. Keeping the forum readable is more important than my ego.
Thanks for the program very impressed with it so far.

There currently isn't a way

There currently isn't a way to episodes in the playlist once they have been flagged as done, but I had this same request in another post too. It's on the todo list to add this.

Feeds are isolated into their own directories mainly because when a feed is deleted we delete the directory associated with it. Having two or more feeds sharing a directory could result in some collateral damage when deleting feeds.

I'm currently working on auto adding episodes to manual playlists. That will be in the release after next...the next release is already finished testing and will hit the market on friday.

Reading posts surely isn't a loss in any way, that's where we get all the great ideas for features.

Thanks for posting.
