unknown size & 54% DL complete, hmm

I guess at that point the size should be known, no. Otherwise what is 54% based on? Also after the download is complete, the size should be known too, no?

I also was not able to delete a item to force a redownload, I had to reboot the phone 4 that 2 work.

Item size

The item size that is displayed in DC comes from what the publisher puts in the feed. Once the download starts, I do know the file size, however DC doesn't update this value.

I created an issue to cover this.

I'm not sure I follow the second part about rebooting the phone. Can you describe what you were seeing?

i was playing an item that i

i was playing an item that i guess was only partially downloaded item since it suddenly ended. i tried to redownload it, since there is no re-download item menu item i tried to do that by deleting it and downloading it again. however when i tried to delete it, the deletion must have failed since it did not go away. my guess is that doggcatcher must have kept a lock on the file. once i rebooted the phone the deletion succeeded, and i could redownload it. does this help?

File lock

Yep, it sounds like a partial, and you did what I would have done to re-download. I'll buy the theory that file was locked and couldn't be deleted.

What could have happened is that the media player didn't release the lock on the file since it terminated abnormally (the end of the file was missing). It was either that or if it was playing at the same time it was downloading, either DC or the media player could have kept the lock. I took a look at my download code and it looks solid, but ya never know. I don't know why the media player would have a lock to a file if it's only reading though.
