I would like to see a manual bookmark feature added. I would use it to bookmark interesting times of a podcast for reference. I see where it's been asked for before (http://mantis.snoggdoggler.com/view.php?id=302).

Got it, thanks for the feedback.
Being able to add a note to the bookmark and share it would be great! I envision is a button to add a bookmark, a note screen would pop-up for input, the note screen would automatically go away after a set time (5 sec) if no note was entered. A note history that allows edits after-the-fact would be necessary. A sample note may look as follows:
Description: Audio, Video, or News RSS description
Time: Bookmark location with time stamp
Note: Whatever the user inputs
DoggCatcher with link (advertisement)?
Being able to share the notes would be an added benefit. If you could mimic how Google Reader works in Android with it's share, you'd have access to may different actions (e.g. Google+, Gmail, Facebook, Wordpress, Seesmic, etc.)
Another benefit to notes is that you could aggregate the notes (with user's permission of course), run statistics, and / or share them with the content creator as an RSS feed. The creator could integrate these listener / view notes with their site.
Thanks for all the details, that all makes sense. I updated the issue to link back to this post.

If you'd like some inspiration in terms of the user interface, the Audible app has an excellent bookmarking feature.
I'm curious, do you accept bounties for features? I'd be willing to chip in a bit extra for this feature in particular. I think it makes a big difference in how users are able to use podcasts, taking them from being passive to at least a tiny bit active.
Also, you appear to have more-or-less duplicate issues in Mantis related to this, though only one of them shows up on the Roadmap page:
http://mantis.snoggdoggler.com/view.php?id=302

Your offer is very generous, but I try to base prioritization based on user demand and work required to get the feature done. While there has been a few posts, there are some other areas where I get many more. That doesn't mean it won't happen, it just needs to bubble up the list.
You're right about the duplicate issues, I just tied them both together.
Thanks for posting.
Hi Eric,
I'd like to submit my vote for adding bookmarking to doggcatcher. Sometimes I am working in the garden or doing other work and when I'm listening to a podcast if I hear a tip or a tool that I want to investigate further, It would be great to just bookmark it so that I could quickly go back through my bookmarks and look up points of interest.
I recently discovered I can use doggcatcher to find librivox books! wow! that's so great. Bookmarking there would be killer. Anyway, thanks for a great app. doggcaster is the best android podcatcher by far.
p.s. nice drupal site
Yup, we've got that on the todo list.

We've been extremely happy using drupal, there are a ton of modules for just about anything that you want to add to your site.
Thanks for the feedback.
Recently heard about Pocketcast which has this feature. Would rather stick with doggcatcher
Thanks
I must admit, I jumped ship to Pocketcasts for a while (lured by its good looks), but it wasnt long before I came back to DoggCatcher.
Pocketcasts is cheaper, uses manual sortable playlists, has a great UI and has a great video option where you can play it as audio only, but it is super buggy (FC's all the time, poor Bluetooth implementation, dodgey widget, downloads fail etc). It is also lacking the many features of DoggCatcher.
Plus DoggCacther is always being developed with new features, PocketCasts hasn't been updated since Feb despite all the bugs it has.
+1 for bookmarks. I use them to take notes on lectures. I would gladly pay extra for this feature. No one else on Android has it. Instacast on iOS has it.
