[resolved] all podcast downloads fail if connected to USB/PC (nexus S)

I am having trouble getting my nexus S to download any podcasts.. as it doesn't have an SD card, I have already set the storage location to "/sdcard", and it has accepted that, but I still get an error, with the following details...

DETAILS:
DoggCatcher Version: 1.2.2345
Device: Google Nexus S
Android Build: 2.3.4 GRJ22
Carrier: Smartone-Vodafone HK

SUMMARY: all podcast downloads fail if connected to USB/PC

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1. Plug Nexus S into USB/PC
2. Start DC
2. Choose a podcast to download
3. DL failed... every time...

I don't get this error if I download podcasts when I'm not connected to the USB/PC. I think it's something to do with the USB connection to the PC taking control of the memory in the nexus S, but I'm wondering if anyone else had this problem...?

The error details are as follows:
java.io.FileNotFoundException:/sdcard/doggcatcher... {file location}.mp3.PART (permission denied)

The error cause is "not known"

FREQUENCY: 100%

SEVERITY: medium

Whilst I can download podcasts when I'm not connected to the power, I would prefer to download them only when I'm connected, as using my nexus S as a phone is more important than downloading a few podcasts, if battery life were to get low...

Thanks in advance for any help..

Nick.

solved (almost)

I carried on playing around after getting very frustrated and posting the above... it turns out I have to switch off "USB debugging mode" and turn off USB storage when connecting to be able to power the phone and download the podcasts... it's still a bit annoying, as I haven't found a way to make the phone default to USB storage off mode... it always turns it on and I have to turn it off every time...!

Thanks for listening to my feeble rants...!... I'm leaving this post here rather than just deleting it, in case someone else has the same problem...

Thanks,

Nick.

The usb debugging won't make

The usb debugging won't make a difference but the usb storage absolutely will. When your pc is using the phone as usb storage, the phone cannot access the sd card.

Glad you got it worked out.
