Handling chronological feeds like language courses

Hi,

I've been trying to get DC to handle a language podcast but can't get it to do it to my liking.

What I want DC to do is:

1. list the first x number of items in the feed starting at the very oldest which is not flagged as done already.
2. It should download and play the above list in chronological order.
3. Once an item has been marked as done it should no longer be listed in the feed items when the feed updates.

Currently you need to have all the items listed in the feed which may mean changing the items total to up to 200 and the download starts at the last feed item instead of the first. It then downloads in reverse chronological order so to access the first item you either have to download every item or manually download starting from the first.

At a first step can you make it so that if the feed is displayed in chronological order it is also downloaded that order.

Thanks,

Dave

Feed diagnostics

It sounds like the feed is out of order otherwise DC will do exactly what you are describing by default, except that you'll need to hide the done items if you don't want to see them.

Try running the feed diagnostics for the feed with the problem...it will recommend the settings to change.

Feed Diagnostics

I tried the feed diagnostics and it advised that the feed was properly sorted and all other tests came back ok.

DC is definitely downloading from the most recent podcasts even though the feed is ordered oldest to newest.

If I can DC to download in the same order they are listed then even though I will have to retrieve all the items in the podcast at least I will be able to trim the list as I listen to them with the "hide done" functionality.

Config

So you'll need to set the num items to a number as big as the number of items there (150). Leave the sort default. Get all the items flagged as new/done as you like. Toggle the hide done items. They will be displayed with the older items at the bottom and play from bottom up.

That should do it.

Thanks

Thanks, that works.

It does strike me as unintuitive though.
