Unplayed Podcasts Delete When Refreshing Feeds

I want to set feeds to delete outdated or played downloaded podcast episodes, but keep the most recent unplayed download if there is nothing newer to download.
Sometimes I have an unplayed podcast and do a refresh of all the feeds and it deletes that podcast even though there wasn't a newer one ready to download. So, I have to go back and manually redownload it again if I want to listen to it.
Is there some way to make sure it only automatically deletes a podcast if it has been already played or if there is a newer episode available for download to replace it?

Auto-delete done

If you set the auto-delete policy to done, dc will only delete done files. If you are seeing different behavior, try running the feed diagnostics. There might be a custom setting needed for the feed.

The auto-downloads is what you'll want to configure to make sure new media files get downloded.

Some podcasts update much

Some podcasts update much more frequently than others and I want to have the newest unplayed episode of each one saved at all times even though I don't have time play every episode.

When there are new episodes available, I would like it to go ahead delete the older podcasts and replace with the latest new episodes of each feed while keeping the unplayed ones when there are not any newer podcast episodes available for that feed.
What I don't want is for it to delete unplayed episodes when there isn't a newer download available to replace it with.

Keep most recent?

Have you tried the keep most recent auto-delete policy that will keep x number of recent items. It almost sounds like you're looking for a combination of more than one auto-delete policy but I'm not sure.

Same exact issue

I am trying to do this same exact thing. There are a few podcasts that are low on my viewing priority list, so they often don't get watched, but I don't really care. I just want the newest episodes of them. I just set the following. We'll see in a few days if it is working right.

Auto downloads - 3
Auto Delete Policy - Keep most recent
Number of Items - 3

In my estimation, this will have the newest 3 episodes at all times.

Crossing my fingers,
Jared

Yep

And you can increase the number of items. That won't affect what gets downloaded and you'll also have the other items available in case you need them.
