Newbie questions about playlists

Hi all,

Just installed DoggCatcher app (moving from Sticher). Using it mostly for commute podcasts.

1. Can I reorder the play list? For example, moving an item to the top of the list?

2. Can I have multiple play lists? For example one for News, one for Tech, etc, such that I can pick the one base on my mood?

3. When I add a item to the playlist, can I add it as 'stream directly over the air rather than downloading' ? That is, having a play list independent on how I choose to play each item, predownloaded or over the air.

4. In the Feeds list screen, is there a way to not displaying feeds with no content? (e.g. I makred DoggCatcher - Getting Started as Flag All Done but it still occupies a line in the Feed display)>

Thanks,

Kam.

Playlist

1 - Yep, the playlist order is determined by the order of the feeds on the feeds screen. Just move the feeds into the order you want and they will be in that order in the playlist.

2 - Yep, create a category for news, tech, etc. There will be a playlist for each category.

3 - Nope, only downloaded media is supported in a playlist

4 - Yep, filter button on the feeds screen, select new and in progress. This will hide feeds with no new items.

Thanks for posting

Thanks Eric, 3 - this can be

Thanks Eric,

3 - this can be a new feature. That is, make the playing mode (streaming vs. pre-downloaded) independent of the membership in the queue.

4. Can I combine two filters? (e.g. Audio and New-and-In-Progress, I care about Audio only).

5. (new question) In the Feeds screen, is there a way to see how many programs are ready (or alternatively, yet to be downloaded). I download the programs manually and currently I need to enter each feed to see if anything is not ready.

BTW, this is a great app indeed. I purchased it based on the good rating and it works great for me.

3 - I guess it's possible but given the unreliable nature of streaming, that might be pretty messy. Like if you lost a connection while streaming, sometime the mediaplayer sends a completed event to doggcatcher...you could end up with a few of those in a row and it would just be marking them all as done.

4 - Not yet, but it has been requested. I like the idea.

5 - That used to be there but the performance was really bad when scanning the sd card. I've got an issue to revisit it since the devices have gotten faster lately, the original performance problem was about 2 yrs ago. Usually when you're caught up in terms of downloading what's new, the new number will implicitly tell you how many media files are downloaded.

Glad you like the app.

5 - Is there any way this

5 - Is there any way this could just be part of the database entry? I know there could then be a POTENTIAL discrepancy on the list of Feeds if a user deletes a file outside of DC. I assume right now it checks the files for the feed once you actually open the feed? Maybe you could update the database entry then as well? So then the big feedlist could easily display how many new, how many in progress, and how many downloaded.

I obviously have no idea how the database is actually set up, so this could be a completely bogus suggestion - but that is a feature I've wanted, but I definitely don't want DC to get slower to provide it.

Download counts

That is one way to pre-calculate those numbers, but there's always the chance it won't be accurate, which may be ok in this situation.

I just moved this to a sooner release. Let me take a stab at it and see how it performs. I've got most of the logic done long ago, it's just commented out because I didn't get it working to my satisfaction.

It may just be a preference that you can enable so only those who really want it, will pay the performance penalty on the feeds screen.
