Loss of audio focus

I took a look at the log you sent me.

There's a feature that was added to android in 2.2 that lets apps grab the primary audio focus...which essentially takes it away from an app that is playing something. If an app does this at the wrong time, like when you are not interacting with the app, then the result is that something you were listening to stops playing.

I've had reports from other users from two other apps that do this. One appears to do it on a schedule in the background.

I looked through your log to try to find the app that is doing this but I don't see anything logged, but what I'm describing is most likely what is happening. It's possible it occurred prior to the beginning of the log. When it occurs, you can see DC losing focus in the log when there's an entry like this.

10-19 21:04:32.815 I/DoggCatcher(23997): AudioPauser::Pausing due to lost audio focus: -3

There are different types of losing audio focus, temporary and permanent. What I've described so far is permanent. I think the ones that I see in this log are temporary (note the -3). The temporary loss of focus is followed by one of these.

10-19 21:05:53.765 I/DoggCatcher(23997): AudioPauser::Resuming due to gained audio focus

A temporary loss of focus can occur when a system notification is played or a google nav announcement.

So the next time it happens, send a log (from the DC menu) to yourself and search for "AudioPauser" around the time when the pause occurred. Then look just prior to that in the log and you can usually get some clues about which app grabbed the focus.

Just for some feeds?

There are some audio files that fail to seek in the 2.2 media player, so if you are seeing this with just some files, then that's probably the case.

You might want to try seeking them in the android music player.
