Manually Import Old Episodes?

I got a Samsung Captivate about a month ago and I'm very happy with it except for its Podcast management (especially coming from the iPod / iTunes Ecosystem that handles Podcasts very well)

From what I can see Doggcatcher is probably going to be the solution I'm looking for but I have one question before I dive in that I can't seem to find using search. Is there a way to manually import older episodes? I'm several months behind on some of my podcasts and I KNOW that they have since dropped off the relevant feeds so I can't just redownload them from the current feed.

My current solution is to carry my iPod Touch with nothing but Podcasts on it until I listen to all my back episodes and my Captivate with just "regular" music on it. My Bluetooth Headset can pair with two devices (one for A2DP and one for phone calls) so that works well enough EXCEPT that the connection to the iPod flakes out in certain environments (Walmart is the worst offender... anytime I'm in there I only get about 10% of the audio coming through from my iPod even though the Captivate works fine if I switch over to that)

If I could manually import all my back episodes into DC I could drop the iPod entirely. If not I'll probably move over the subscriptions I'm current on... but that seems kludgy and tedious.

Thanks!

Matt

P.S. If I've posted this in the wrong place I apologize... I wasn't sure if this was "general" or "feature".

Virtual feed

If you've already got the media files, you can create a virtual feed in DC and drop all the media into the folder for the virtual feed. It'll behave pretty much like a real feed but you'll be missing all the rss info about the episode because all DC will know about is the filename.

That should work!

That should work. Mind you I haven't installed DC yet... So this might be an obvious question when I get that far...

How does sorting work? IE should I rename the files so that they are "alphabetical"?

Virtual sorting

They are sorted alphabetically, so naming them a certain way will help you get them played in the proper order.

But, there's an open bug where you can't configure the sort order for virtual feeds, so they will only be sorted the default order.

So just test it with a couple files to make sure you've got them playing in the right order before you name them all.

Any media

Yep, that'll work for any audio media files.

Wow, I'm pretture sure that

Wow, I'm pretty sure sure that Matt is the same person I am. :P

But yeah, I had an iPhone and just got a Samsung Captivate. I'm in the Army and, due to training, am 3 months behind on my Buzz Out Loud. I would like to do the same thing Matt asks: import old podcasts in.

Help appreciated!
