Google Car Home support

It would be great if we could add DoggCatcher to the updated Google Car Home app recently released. Just in case you didn't hear about it, I will include the developer instructions below. Would be great to be able to put "DoggCatcher" right next to the "Music" button on my Car Home page.

Car mode

I had looked at this a while ago and couldn't make the api do anything useful for DC. What I was trying to do is to get DC to be one of the apps on the car mode buttons. The new version of the car app let's you add a shortcut to any app...I tried this out and it works fine.

There's a mention in the blog post about putting apps in the the car mode category so they show up in the list of car mode app you can add to car mode. I've yet to find any details on how to do this though. I'll look around and see if I can find anything.

Thanks for posting the info.

Wow, that's weird. I swear I

Wow, that's weird. I swear I clicked on Other Applications several times and it wasn't bringing up most of my apps. Now they all come up and I can add Doggcatcher to my Car Home. Well that's good I guess! Perhaps another thing you could do is have a "car mode" screen in Doggcatcher that has larger buttons and is optimized for horizontal display and use the API to detect that state?

Car mode

If I understand you correctly, I think you want to press on the DC icon in carmode and jump to a screen in DC with large buttons. That screen would probably be the playmode screen. I plan on changing the screens name to something sensible and make the buttons a bit bigger.

The step i missed

Just leaving a note for anyone else looking for this. Google released an updated Car Home app, but it didn't automatically update the one that came on my phone (nexus one). Get Car Home by google from the market
