Two issues that have been bugging me

Here are two things that have been bugging me about DoggCatcher... perhaps they are bugs, I'm not sure.

1) Some of my podcasts have incorrect album art. As in, I add podcasts A, B, and C, and while A shows the correct art, B shows no art whatsoever, and C shows the art that should belong to B.

2) Every single time I try to stream a podcast over 3G, the podcast ends before I am done streaming it. This may or may not be related to the fact that sometimes I have to pause while I am listening... it really shouldn't matter. Once the stream ends, I have to stream it again from the beginning. Generally this leads me not to use this feature, but instead to go into the settings, disable "On Wifi" from the updating section so I can update podcasts over 3G, download the episode, renable "on Wifi" in the settings, and then listen. This is a hassle that should be avoidable. Perhaps a "manually download" should be in the long press menu for an episode that you have not downloaded yet.

Another small issue that kind of bugged me (I know, I know, I said two issues, not three!) was that I accidentally uninstalled DoggCatcher. I tried to update and instead there WAS no available update so I clicked "Uninstall". That's on me. But when I reinstalled, all of my feeds were gone. I readded them one-by-one, but a few days later noticed that all of the old downloaded shows were still on my SD card, taking up almost 3 GB and not being used by DoggCatcher at all. I deleted them, but I was hesitant to do so because I didn't want to delete any files that DoggCatcher needed to run.

Anyways, thanks for the great program, just a few issues I've had to work through.

Update: I deleted the

Update:

I deleted the individual folders within "Podcast Images" which contained the artwork and let the feeds re-sync. Most of the art problems took care of themselves, but I still can't seem to get the Player One Podcast (http://www.playeronepodcast.com/feed/) to show me the correct artwork. It just has a musical note icon where the art would otherwise be.

Issues

1 - You did what I was going to suggest. When I look at that feed in a browser, I don't see an image thumbnail for it.

2 - The android media player can flake out on streams on unreliable connections, that's probably what's happening. There will be be a force download action in the next market release that will override the 'only-on..' for that one item. The beta testers have this now.

2+ - I do have it on the todo list to add a mechanism for cleaning up orphan media files. That should cover the scenario you describe. It would be good to do a backup of the feeds (in the DC menu) once you get everything set up the way you like it.

Thanks for posting.

I think the feed for Player

I think the feed for Player One Podcast might be for the site and not for the podcast... as in, contains news posts and podcast posts. I'll look for a podcast only feed and see if that has art.

Ah, here we go... http://playerone.libsyn.com/rss

And sure enough, that brings in the podcast art.

Thanks again!
