Actual dates on podcast episodes

It would be nice to be able to see the exact time and date of when a podcast was released.

Currently, when you look at a list of episodes, each one says something like "7 days ago". This, however, isn't very precise. It would be handy to be able to see what time exactly each episode comes out, so I can predict when the next episode will get released. If I see that a podcast usually gets released on a Tuesday at 7pm, then I'll know to have a look at it at that time to get the latest episode. At the moment, however, I have no way of knowing when to expect the next episode.

This gets worse for podcasts that are more than a month old, when you get several episodes that all say "1 months ago" [sic], which is very vague and doesn't tell me much at all.

On a semi-related note, there's a little issue with the display of the time at which a feed was updated on the Feeds screen. For most of my feeds, it simply doesn't say anything here. Some feeds, such as those from the TWiT network, accurately report the time at which the last episode was released. Others simply report the wrong time entirely.

For example, according to the Feeds screen, The Skeptics Guide to the Universe podcast was updated "61 months ago".
My Brother, My Brother and Me (http://mbmbam.libsyn.com/rss) usually has some random number of hours, unrelated to when the last episode came out.
The Pod Delusion (http://www.ipadio.com/phlog_rss.asp?phlogid=9216) claims to have been updated at the time I update the feeds, whenever that may have been.

I know this isn't DoggCatcher's fault, and it's due to the people who make podcasts not creating completely perfect RSS feeds. However, it's clear that the time-of-last-update on the feeds screen feature is utterly broken. Perhaps it should simply report the time at which the most recent episode was released, which is a figure that DoggCatcher can correctly ascertain from *almost* all feeds.

Exact dates - I created an issue for this - http://mantis.snoggdoggler.com/view.php?id=624

Date weirdness - there's something going on with date parsing. I just checked the my brother feed and the dates are displaying properly for me. I've sent out some custom builds to a couple users whose devices are not able to parse dates that most people can...pretty strange. Anyways, it sounds exactly like what you are describing. Here's a new issue for it - http://mantis.snoggdoggler.com/view.php?id=625

Skeptics - the publisher has the wrong date on that one, it is set to 61 months ago.
Pod delusion - this feed has a pubdate set to what looks like the time you fetch the feed.

Thanks for posting all the details.

So, what do you think of the idea of DoggCatcher simply ignoring the (usually incorrect) pudDate node for the feed, and replacing that with the pubDate for the most recent episode?

I, too, would love to see this feature (issue 624). I binge listen to some old podcasts that make more sense when I know the date they were published. Now I have to guesstimate the date of each episode (69 months ago).

That's pretty much the only feature I'm missing right now. Thanks for a great piece of software!

Pub date

I don't think I can ignore the pubdate on the feed but if it isn't there I can use the most recent item's pubdate - created issue - http://mantis.snoggdoggler.com/view.php?id=627

Any word?

Any word on this issue? I looked at the issue link above and this was just showing as new. This would be a feature I would like as well--to be able to either display the time elapsed or the actual date the podcast was posted (time is not of issue for me as the user above wanted, I'm more wanting the actual date instead of the "months ago" notation.

Thanks for a great product!
