Would love to see some support for Tasker app for basic controls. Just moved to Doggcatcher from Beyondpod and only tonight have discovered Tasker. Typical of my luck it has BeyondPod support and not Doggcatcher. Developer says to point any other developer to his specific developers page http://tasker.dinglisch.net/developers.html so that he can integrate as a 3rd party app. Would be great if you could discuss possibilities with him. Tasker seems hugely powerful and would be very useful if I was able to automate some of Doggcatcher's playback features with it. Thanks for consideration.

Tasker

Funny thing you mention it. I was just reading about tasker today...I think on lifehacker?

I've have a couple requests from other tool developers to do an integration. It's probably about time to get that moving.

I created an issue for that.

Yep, it was lifehacker I saw it on - been playing with it and liked the example of turning phone onto front to silence it. Got it to pause inbuilt player at same time and resume when I flip phone back. Since I'm always listening to podcasts at work I figured that would be useful trick for Doggcatcher when the boss walks in! Just a small example of course, the app is way more than just that. Thanks for response and issue creation :)

I think that even just a trigger to sync all feeds would be a great start. NewsRob currently works like that. I have Tasker configured so that whenever I connect to my home or work wireless network, NewsRob performs a sync. Tasker is also capable of enumerating your mobile network connection (2G, 3G, 4G) and that state could also be utilized.

Anyway since this is my first post here I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for the awesome app. I live by podcasts and don't even have a TV service anymore. Don't know exactly how I would get by without DoggCatcher.

Regards,

Dave

Tasker

I'm glad you're liking the app.

I've thought about this a little more. What I think I'm going to expose to tasker is the following.

Play - it will play if it's not playing, or continue playing if it is already.
Pause - it will pause if it's not paused, or continue being pause if it already is.
Toggle play/pause - play if it's paused, pause if it's playing
Update feeds.

Tasker

+1 on tasker integration. I'd like Tasker to be able to start a sync at certain times.

Being able to start/stop playback would be cool too. Then I could use position commands to control playback when not using my headphones.

skip ahead

some mechanical input that would activate the skip seconds would be nice.
Also, an input to finish-and-mark-as-done would be handy.
thanks

Yes, Tasker support would be

Yes, Tasker support would be great so I can pause podcast playback when I have an incoming call through SipDroid. I currently can only mute the media volume, but the podcast keeps playing.
