Podcasts not downloading because DoggCatcher can't see WiFi over 3G
So this morning I noticed the Ongoing Notification was lit-up for the download queue which surprised me, because the WiFi was on, so anything in the download queue shouldn't be on hold... it should be downloading.
When I went into the queue, it read at the top of the screen that WiFi wasn't connected as the reason that the podcasts weren't downloading.
I noticed that in my notification bar, I had BOTH a WiFi connection and a 3G connection, which surprised me. I always thought it was one or the other.
I don't know if this is an Android bug, or a Droid X bug, or a DoggCatcher bug, but I thought I would report it here.
I do know for sure that I had connectivity to the WiFi signal because I was able to access my router's setup webpage which is only available if I'm on the WiFi network. However, a speed test in another application showed 3G speeds, not WiFi speeds.

That's another forum reporting the same Android issue.
I've seen both icons display when switching from one connection type to another, but it's always temporary.
AFAIK, you can only have one active network connection at a time, at least that's the way it's supposed to be. There's actually a method to the *the* active network connection, and that's what DC uses to determine is it's time to start downloading. That method must have been returning the mobile connection otherwise your downloads would have been going.
