Can not delete podcasts
Am missing something? I dont seem to be able to remove podcasts I have listened to and want to delete. If I press and hold on the podcast I want to remove the only options I get in the menu are 'Stream', 'Description' and 'Flag as done' (which changes to flag as new when I click it). There is no option to delete this pod cast, I'm sure there used to be. So how do I delete old listened to podcasts.
Thanks in advance for the help
They'll get deleted once they roll of the old end the list. The length of this list can be configured in the number of items setting in the feed options.
The media can get deleted automatically if you set the auto-delete policy for the feed.
I do have it on the list to hide the done items which would probably achieve the same thing, without you having to delete them manually.
understood, but just the same I'd like to vote for a delete option to be able to keep
things tidy. This especially comes up when migrating to DC from a different catcher, as many
of the feeds have already been watched/read/listened.
Vote 1 up for me on the ability to show only new feeds items (filter out 'done').
Really liking the app so far!
I left DoggCatcher b/c of this and keep checking back to see if it has been changed b/c I think it is the best podcast manager except for this issue. I understand that it "eventually" deletes, but once it deletes it is shown as "Available to Download" again - this gets very messy. I kept finding myself downloading the same podcasts over again just to realize I already listened to it. Am I doing something wrong?
Are you flagging items as done? If you do that, then you can have DC download everything for you and delete them when you're done.
I am still going to add the filter to hide the done item, but you'll still need to flag them as done or they won't get hidden.
Thanks for your response. Yes I have my podcasts set up to Flag as Done. Let me explain a current situation to see if that is more clear:
I have a podcast for which the settings are: Number of Items: 5, Auto-Download, Flag as Done, Auto-Delete.
I have 5 episodes on my screen, 4 of which are "Ready" b/c I have not listened to them at all. 1, which I already listened to, was Flagged as Done when I finished listening, then Auto-Deleted, but still appears on my list as "Not Downloaded." This is deceiving, especially for this particular podcast b/c all the episode names are just Episode 195, 196, 197, etc... so I can't recall which ones I've listened to. Since it is marked as "Not Downloaded," then to me it appears like DC just did not download it yet. If I have already listened to a podcast and I want it to Auto Delete, then to me, that means I want it GONE from my list of podcasts. I'd rather have 4 unlistened episodes left on my list than 5 with one having already been listened to.
On this particular podcast, I was having a really hard time with it when I was just starting out and want to go back and download all 197 episodes. I set the "Number of Items" to 200 and made them all available. But it turned into a HUGE mess b/c every time I listened to one and it deleted, it just reappeared as "Not Downloaded." From week to week, I couldn't remember if those episodes were not downloaded b/c of space or b/c it auto-deleted. I ended up redownloading a ton of episodes that I has already heard just b/c I could not remember. That experience makes me hesitant to try to download the archives of any other new podcast that I discover.
I left DC for a while to try a bunch of other podcast apps but I still like DC the best if only for this one issue. If this was cleared up, then I'd give it 5 stars for sure!
Thanks for your attention!

It sounds like you are looking at the downloaded state (not downloaded) to keep track of whether you have listened to it or not.
You can use the New/In progress/Done state to accomplish this and it will work much more naturally with the auto-downloads and auto-delete.
The new are be blue and the done items are green.
So a new item will show up as blue, and auto-download. When you're done, it will turn green and then get auto-deleted.
Thanks Eric - I will try to shift my thinking to look at it that way. For me, it's just a little distracting with the different icons on the right, and then I tend to see "green" as "go," i.e. "ready" - not "done" - so that kind of throws me off too. But I have turned the auto-delete to "as space is needed" so that at least I won't have the "not downloaded" icon in view all the time. I still would like to see, at the minimum, some kind of filter that hides everything I have already listened to so that I don't have to see it still in my queue, even if it is green. Thanks for your time!
I just downloaded the latest update and now see the HIDE DONE feature in the preferences - THANK YOU! My feeds look SO much cleaner now! Thanks for listening! I'll go change my rating to 5 stars now!

I actually find it pretty useful myself, thanks for voicing your interest in it.
Hi Eric...
After using it for the last week with the "hide done" option checked, I actually have another suggestion... I would prefer that it "hide deleted" instead - these were the ones really cluttering my feed. What happens now is that I often listen to podcasts while I am falling asleep, so of course when it finishes, it is marked as "done." With this new setting checked it gets hidden - but if I fell asleep before the end and want to go back and listen to it, then I have to uncheck the hide done box in the prefs in order to do so. I'd rather it operate like iTunes, where when it is done it stays in my feed (it's state just changes from new to done), but once I chose to delete it, then it is gone from my feed. Do you think this is possible? I think that is really what I was after all along but I was interchanging the 2 terms b/c I used to have the "delete when done" option marked.
Thanks for your consideration!

It sounds like you want to delete the items. At the moment, there isn't any way to do that but I added an issue for it.

Oh, I see. Thought I was missing something.
Would be nice if we could delete old podcasts so I can remove old ones I have finished with when I want to.
Thanks for the help Eric
