Hi,

Last Friday I purchased a Nexus One to replace my Hero, since getting the phone I've noticed that I get a LOT of failed downloads from all of my subscribed Podcasts (TWiT Network, Linux Outlaws, Buzz Out Loud), mainly with the following three errors:

Detail: java.net.SocketException: No route to host
Cause: The network is not connected via wifi or mobileth)

Detail: java.net.SocketTimeoutException
Cause: The network is not connected via wifi or mobile

java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Transport endpoint is not connected
Cause: The network is not connected via wifi or mobile

So far I've tried re-installing DoggCatcher, re-adding the feeds and I've even went so far as to factory reset the phone (didn't have much installed since Friday!) Does anyone have a suggestion as to what could be causing this?

Cheers,

Verta

PS. This is the first major problem I've had DoggCatcher since buying it a year ago and I use it every day, great job on the application guys, keep up the good work :)

Network errors

If you're seeing networks error coming from android, then that's pretty much guaranteed what's happening...there's something going wrong with the network, either wifi or mobile.

If you're on wifi, you could check your router and see if there are any errors.

Those are much more common on mobile connections though. If that's the case, I'm not too sure what you can do about that.

Hi eric, I've checked the

Hi eric,

I've checked the router (Cisco 877W) and there are no errors on either the wireless or ADSL line. I've also tested this in the same room as the ADSL router now and I get exactly the same results.

This error mainly occurs when the device goes to sleep; I've got keep-alive enabled and I've also ticked the new and improved keep-alive at the bottom of the settings menu.

Any other suggestions? :-(

Prevent sleep

You could try enabling the 'prevent sleep during download' preference.

Thanks for your help eric,

Thanks for your help eric, after a bit of digging I think this may be down to the Nexus One WiFi bug rather than DoggCatcher. It's well documented here: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/android/thread?tid=01a47ff5b0a92d5... and here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731395

Hopefully it's fixed soon, in the meantime I've downloaded an app called WiFi Fixer and applied the Nexus One Fix which seems to have solved the problem at the cost of some battery life!
